I've added Alikay & monty100 to
Our MSE endowment windfalls comparison table
Also benz, r_s & BellaBargains are recent additions.
It would be really useful to compare pension contributions. Is there anyone out there who has made regular contributions of the same amount into a Standard WP pension fund?
And does no-one on MSE own a Standard Life WP Bond?
But as I predicted. There's nothing like it in any of the weekend papers - or other websites.
MSE is leading the way.

Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread (only just found it), but my husband has a Standard Life with profits endowment policy on our house, and has been receiving all the lead-up paperwork, which he has returned as directed.
However we haven't received the package of bumf plus details of his share allocation yet. Is this common, or do we need to contact them?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I have one of those but it's only from 2002.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

I have a Standard Life WP Bond, invested £10k in Late 2001.
I have been given 262 shares.
At the moment I intend to sell the shares immediatelyand put it to the existing cash in value (MVA applicable), cash the Bond in, in the hope of getting somewhere near to my original investment back.
Re-invest it elsewhere, where I'll get more than the paltry 2% a year I'm getting now.
It really is a pooper of an investment.0 -

The MVR on the Standard WP Bond after 5 years does look to be one of the highest. Only fellow mutual Liverpool Victoria is anything like as high AFAIK.0 -

We had a minor panic as my partner is also named on the policy and she received a pack saying she had no entitlement. We forgot that it is only the first named on the policy who gets to vote and the payout. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

We have a 25 year endownment policy for £30,000 started may 1986 paying £39.10 a month and our predicted shortfall is to date £11,500  . Our issue is 850 share's. :rolleyes:0

Hi lab,
Of course people are linking windfalls and shortfalls. The one can hopefully help with the other, if only partially.
Unfortunately the shortfall size has no direct bearing on how windfalls are calculated by the appointed actuary.
Some really early policies eg 1982 are on course to pay the target amount (and they get more of a windfall). Post 1988 policyholders are more likely to have to have got misselling compensation - but that's also not part of the formula.
You're now added to this comparison table0 -
With profit Bond windfall allocation rates
Percentage relates to the variable windfall (i.e. total windfall minus basic 185 shares) as a percentage of the initial investment.
April 2001 - 2.57% - Anonymous
Late 2001 - 2.04% - gerryfitz
Any more information on WP Bonds would be very welcome0
