£20 free - HSBC credit card

Folks :-
I applied for this card on 17th April, supplied the ID info and phoned their 0870 number to confirm my ID when requested. I also phoned a couple of times to find out what happened to my application to be told by the indian call centre it was all in hand....
I eventually received the card in the middle of June, however I've yet to receive the promised £20 cheque - has anyone?
On the application I asked for a £3000 balance transfer. HSBC eventually did the balance transfer on 6th June and charged me 2%. That balance transfer fee was not in the Ts & Cs so a snotty letter has been sent to HSBC - did anyone else get similarly stung?
Thanks

Hi all, I received my £20 incentive payment by cheque for applying for a HSBC Credit Card, I paid it in and low & behold I was advised by a letter from my bank that the cheque had been returned due to the signature mandate not matching. I hope they apply there own penalty charge for returned payments to my incentive. Anyone else had this problem of a major financial instituition bouncing a cheque.

Had the same thing happen to me yesterday - cheque paid in 4th July and reversed on my bank statement on '7th' (the day it was orignally treated as cleared and certainly on the morning of the 7th it hadn't come off.)
I sent a secure message to HSBC suggesting that they credit this amount to the card - and not another cheque - as per the orignal terms of the offer.
(My theory is that someone at HSBC starting writing cheques without permission of the higher ups.).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
This has happened to me too.
Do you think the cheques will be reissued?0 -
And another cheque "unpaid". I've phoned and messaged, but no answers yet. Should get the cheque back in the post - might be worth talking to them again then.

I have just been contacted by HSBC. The explanation was that 'stops' are automatically in place on batches of cheques before they are sent to customers (internal security?) These are then released once the items are in the post (so only the recipient can present?) This unblocking did not occur in the case of some cheques and they were thus presented with a block in place - unbeknownst to the customer. A immediate credit to current account or card account has been offered. I took the current account (FD)

Hi!
The snotty letter got the balance transfer charges refunded, but they are refusing the £20, saying I opened the account on 20th April whereas the offer was only good between the 14th and 17th April. Another snotty letter now on the way showing the application was done on the 17th and the dated printout shows it.
Surely there must be easier ways of getting this money! :-)

Last month they shaved the amount above the min payment off the purchases balance (min payment off promo balance, min payment plus £1 extra paid off the purchases.) Has this now changed then? If it stayed that way then at the end date of the 0% on purchases that could be cleared by a single payment and - up to 30 days later - the rest (the residual promo BT) cleared out on its end date if different.YorkshireBoy wrote:Be aware though, that this card has two 0% end dates (or at least it did when they were doing the 9 month offering last December).
The first, on purchases, is 6 months from account opening. The second, on BT's, is 6 months from the date the BT is debited to your account - which may be up to 30 days after the account is opened (if it's the same as the last offer).
It wasn't a problem on the old T&C's, but since they changed the order of payments on the latest 'variation to the T&C's' this could mean you incur some interest on your purchases at the end of the deal......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -

I Didnt have problems with the balance transfer fee but got a similar reply re the £20.
They said my application hadnt been passed to the correct department until 20/04. I replied advising that my application had been input in to their website on the 17/04 and their T&c's only said apply not passed to another department and that i wanted this fully investigated.
I received an email back today advising that the £20 had been credited to my credit card account. It hasnt still waiting but might take a day or two to update.
The email was from a Kelly martin her email is - kellymartin@hsbc.com
And she was part of the customer Resolutions Team.

After sending a complaining e-mail, I have received a replacement cheque and an extra £20 credit to the card along with an apologetic letter. I just hope that this cheque pays in O.K.0
