I applied for the cc. I got the credit card sent through the post and then had to activate it over the phone. I had to go through the usual security checks - mother's maiden name, DOB, etc. but then was then told I had to go to a branch to confirm my details as I hadn't given the right answers! So far I haven't managed to get to a branch but hope to do so this week.Books - the original virtual reality.

Hi!
I got the credit card a few days ago after applying in april for it. As part of their security they insist on you phoning them (on an 0870 number) to verbally check you made the application etc.
I have yet to see the £20 and I suspect they've charged me a balance transfer fee, which I'll argue about bitterly when the first bill comes along.

Applied for credit card Mayday BH weekend; now has BT fee-free transfer on it (money offsetting my mortgage). Got a handwritten cheque today for £20 - had phoned them a couple of times.
Opened saver a/c late May BH - expecting £20 credit by end of month.
I think I may have been lucky with BT fee - I did my transfer 6 May.

Surely you Mean 'Easter' don't you? You are lucky indeed to have escaped the fee as it came in on 1st May and May B/H was 1st May. If you had applied on the Sat or Sun of course then techically you got in just ahead of the wire. I got a fee intially, despite applying at Easter, and got this refunded but it required speaking to two or three people.red_flump wrote:Applied for credit card Mayday BH weekend; now has BT fee-free transfer on it (money offsetting my mortgage). As to the OLS, hadn't the qualification date for that payment moved ahead one month (from end of June to end of July?) by the time you applied in late May? I would guess that is the reason you are still waiting as the OLS credit of £20 arrived several days before the handwritten cheque (arrived Tuedsay for me) for opening the C.C.
Remember that with 3% min payments on this card it makes it worthwhile paying bills (etc) to claw back the min payments as 0% purchases......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Be aware though, that this card has two 0% end dates (or at least it did when they were doing the 9 month offering last December).Milarky wrote:Remember that with 3% min payments on this card it makes it worthwhile paying bills (etc) to claw back the min payments as 0% purchases.
The first, on purchases, is 6 months from account opening. The second, on BT's, is 6 months from the date the BT is debited to your account - which may be up to 30 days after the account is opened (if it's the same as the last offer).
It wasn't a problem on the old T&C's, but since they changed the order of payments on the latest 'variation to the T&C's' this could mean you incur some interest on your purchases at the end of the deal.0
