Added postage to an item in a free P&P category on ebay?

I'll remind you, as you never answered the first time. You don't need to, as you have now converted me cyril, I have decided like you, no justification needed, I'm just ignoring the sellers t&c's, as you advise people to do when they buy advertising space from ebay. Sellers are fair game, if we don't agree with them, buy anyway, then ignore what they said.
sorry if i offended you by not addressing your post i'll address it now.
Your kind of on the right lines with Seller buys rights from ebay thing, but it's actually a service agreement not a purchase agreement and yes it does matter.
what yourself and others are conveniently choosing to overlook is that i have repeatedly said that i DO NOT agree with sellers trying to bend ebay rules this way, nor do i see any logic in it, everyone else is having to add postage to the sale price so they will be exactly the same comparatively to their competitors prices as they were before free postage was introduced, basically everything is more expensive in these categories now, it's not just them, they are fools not to add the postage into their sale price.
so nowhere in any of my previous posts have i said it is ok for sellers to "buy services from ebay then ignore the terms" as you put it so please don't attempt to say i did and use that as justification for your actions.
Although i don't agree with sellers bending or indeed breaking the rules i don't see it as ripping people off unless done in a particularly sneaky way as i exampled earlier, since you have the choice to buy or not buy, no one forces you, you could just hit the report button then go on and buy from someone else.
While i don't agree with sellers who break the rules i particularly despise ebay scammers of all descriptions and anyone who ever at anytime in their life sees fit to utter the words "i'm not paying the price i agreed to and if you don't give it me cheaper i'll neg you" or words to that effect is, whether they like it or not is a feedback blackmail scammer and that is the root of my objection.

I'm sure that’s how you justify it to yourselves but if a guy lists something at 1p with £3 stated that they will charge for postage how exactly are they ripping you off when they have blatantly lowered the asking price to reflect the extra postage?
Because in the example I stated their prices do not reflect extra postage, they reflect a charge which they're technically not allowed to enforce upon anyone. If they want to charge £3 for postage and packaging that's fine by me, but at least put it in the P&P box. Don't say you're doing free post and packing and then turn around and say 'wait a minute, no I'm not, I just wanted my listing to look more appealing so I could then get you interested before piling more charges on'. Price for the item and price for the P&P are completely seperate, like I said earlier, don't start your bidding at 1p if you'd be unhappy for it to sell at that price. Don't offer free postage if you're unhappy to post it for free.D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0 -
Are sellers allowed to do this?
I can't post the link beacuse I'm new so the item number is 320399217965
which is add postage in their description even though it's meant to free?
sorry I know this is a really simple question but I tried to search for the answer but couldnt find it :S
It may be coincidence but as the seller is selling a game in a which is a Free P&P category then putting a £3.00 postage charge in the description, but also bidder number 4 has a LOT of activity on all this sellers other items as well.
Coincidence or just me being cynical. :rolleyes:0 -
Auction closed, and not stopped by ebay. I find it hard not to suspect it hasn't been reported, so perhaps ebay policy isn't strictly enforced.
Or perhaps ebay know there's a 50/50 chance the buyer won't pay the extra charges added after the auction, the buyer won't agree to a mutual, and the seller will have to pay the fees, then either ship anyway, or re-list, and pay ebay a second lot of fees. So win/win for ebay all the way.0 -
I got hit by this - on my g1 it shows the price and postage, need to hit item description to read it, and it only had 1min left, so bid on it and paid the price of the mug, to which he responds asking for the extra money etc etc. I contacted ebay, no response, me and the seller did a mutual in the end - I was on holiday and didn't want the hassle. I sent him a message with the info about he shouldn't do it like that etc, he relisted it... exactly the same way, just with "If you do not agree with this, do not bid' underneath. Reported to ebay, they took it off. Another item of his was exactly the same, reported that as well, ebay did nothing.
I don't like reporting people, but I gave him some friendly info on how ebay works, and the free postage rule in certain categories, and he went and ignored the whole lot!~*Cerenia*~
