I know it means that the seller is actually doing themselves out of business

the seller your discussing here isn't a business though.

Out of cruelty I have tried reporting a few of these but random things seem to be happening.

Example, item # 230358466599, appears to be Free P&P but in the listing it states "£1.25 POSTAL UK". I reported this on Sunday but it is still there. The seller has a few like this

TAJNA's eBay reply is interesting on view of the fact that item item #230358466599 was reported over 4 days ago but is still allowed to run. Clearly eBay really do not give a darn about what people do regarding FREE P&P FOR COLLECTION ONLY items in the free P&P categories....
Its FREE p+p by Royal Mail 2nd class standard too.

See Tajna's ebay reply to anything stated to the contrary in the listing description ;)

They shouldn't list at 1p if they don't want to sell it for 1p. I think if they have the cheek to break the rules and add hidden charges then they deserve it. It's not even ripping them off, they're the ones who are being underhand and sneaky so they're getting the same treatment from their buyers. It's damn annoying trying to browse things when there's pages and pages of these untruthful listings from multiple sellers, all breaking the rules. I refuse to feel guilty because they've essentially brought it on themselves.

And now that you mention it, I just bought a funky strawberry egg timer delivered from China for a grand total of 26p, free P&P :D

They may not be recorded as such on ebay, but I fear HMRC may take an alternative view to yours should they ever have reason to catch up with the seller.
Just take a look at the number of graphics cards the seller has for sale/sold ;)

i had a brief look through his feedback, it just looks like he's selling bits of old junk from around the house to me, old mobile mobiles computer cables and parts which sounds like he's broken down an old pc or two to sell as spares, could be wrong, i didn't study his feedback too hard but that was the impression i got.

i think HMRC would have bigger fish to fry to be honest.

    He's got about 30 graphics cards for sale/sold - he's numbered them. ;)

Exactly, they are attempting to rip off the buyer and are therefore deserving of everything they get.

I'm sure that’s how you justify it to yourselves but if a guy lists something at 1p with £3 stated that they will charge for postage how exactly are they ripping you off when they have blatantly lowered the asking price to reflect the extra postage?

an example for you, seller lists dvd with market value of £5 including delivery and he sets his price at £4 free delivery, he writes a description that could rival war and peace in a size 12 font and at the very bottom of this huge description he states an extra postage fee of £5 will be added only that’s in size 8 font and at the bottom of an unusually long description. That’s an example of trying to rip someone off as not only are they attempting to charge you over the market value but are hiding the extra charge.

Example 2 (more suited to the sellers people have linked to here) a guy lists a dvd with a market value of £4-£5 at 99p ebay set the free postage but seller states right at the top or near the top of the description that they will charge £2.99 how is the seller trying to rip you off? he is only trying to charge the going rate and it stating it clearly at the start of the item description.

Face it, all these sellers are doing is breaking an ebay policy that does not affect you and you are using it to blackmail them for your own financial gain, it's so transparent even stevie wonder could see it.

if you want to claim the moral high ground report the listing and don't buy the item, they'll go out of business just as quickly if no one buys from them.

As a buyer you either choose to accept the sellers t&c's then or you dont.
There are two transaction with any ebay item. The first where ebay sells the "seller" the right to list, (so they are a buyer), and the second, where I buy from the listing.
If you take the stance that you should choose to accept seller t&c's, ebay sells you the space on their website, you want to use it, accept their t&c's on listings, and list with free postage, that's what you pay for as a "seller" on ebay.
If you don't accept your sellers t&c's, don't complain if I don't accept sellers t&c's either. Just don't try to pick and choose depending on which side of the fence you're on at the time. I have never said the buyer has to accept the sellers terms, but you can't complain either if the seller doesn't accept the buyers terms, be it not ship with postage added after, or if the listing gets pulled depending on which ebay transaction you mean.

I'll remind you, as you never answered the first time. You don't need to, as you have now converted me cyril, I have decided like you, no justification needed, I'm just ignoring the sellers t&c's, as you advise people to do when they buy advertising space from ebay. Sellers are fair game, if we don't agree with them, buy anyway, then ignore what they said.
