  • Hello i have just been told i was eligible for working tax credit for last year 2011-2012 for around 50 pounds per week due to me not working at all in the previous year 2010-2011.this amounts to a substansial amount of money .I was NOT told this until this year by a work mate.I have been told by tax credit i will get 12 pound a week for this year based on last year 2011-2012 income. The question is can i get any of the money that was due to me for the previous year 2011-2012 as it is a lot of money to loose over 1000 pound.thanks

No, backdating is now limited to 1 month. Unfortunately if you didn't make a claim there is nothing you can do except get a claim in as soon as possible.

  • Hi I wonder if anyone can help am a newbie. My husband worked for nearly 30yrs and eventually lost his job, he was the only full timer left so he wasn't cost effective (casuals are cheaper) He is now working part time as am I and we receive child and working tax credit. My question is that my 18 year old is in full time non advanced education and wants to work a few hour maybe a Saturday job. Does anyone know if this will this affect our tax credits.
  • Hi all, I am completing the tax credit form and was hoping that someone would please clarify if profits made from sales of shares is classed as income for tax credit purposes. The profit is considerably lower than the £10600 tax free allowance for capital gain tax purpose.

I have rang the tax credit helpline but keep getting cut off after holding for a while.

    Thanks

No, it's a capital gain, it's not income, ignore it.

Hi - Not sure if this is the right place but I have two queries on my TC renewal.

    1) Overpayment arose in 2007 which I am paying back each month andconsequently I am no receiving any tax credits
    2) I tried to do my renewal over the phone yesterday and was asked a bout a salary sacrifice scheme - My employer has an IT scheme where I purchase a new computer & training package and they take the payment from gross salary each month (after 2 year term I have option to purchase). WTC want my original contract of employement from 4 yrs ago, all leaflets and guides regarding the scheme, the agreement between my employer and the IT supplier - is this reasonable/normal - (They have also asked for my agreement/variation and payslips before and after deduction - no probs with that).

Any advice please? I've always been PAYE.
  • Thanks KevinG.

    Tax credits renewal online?
Hubby left it to the last minute convinced he could do it online. I can't find any link to fill any form online. Is there any place to renew online?

You can't renew online, you have to send the form or ring them.
