    with the laptop off, press the Fn key to the left of the space bar and while holding the key press power. That will boot the diagsnostics, run the PSA diags then you will get a menu go to customs test, and pick the touchpad.. that why you can test your touchpad hardware

    How do we know? He hasn't run Avira yet as far as we know.
    He's still now got a better AV than AVG Free (in my opinion).

    Ahhh i have managed to get the touchpad icon back in the systems tray , clicked on it and it opened the settings WOW to many choices & first time i have seen this !
    choices are many where to start lol touch pad settings , speed , touch sensativity light touch or heavy touch has a slider light choice or heavy choice ?, taps and touch check options too ?

    Turn it right off first and see if the problem is still there or not when using the mouse. If it is, then tweaking the touchpad settings is not going to cure it.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Well that should perform a test on the touchpad but if you are in the touchpad settings you should be able to turn of tapping, adjust the sensitivity or disable the touchpad so that an external mouse can be used.

    espresso...i have changed the sensativity to light and so far so good i have managed to write an email and typing this the mouse pointer has not jumped once maybee it just needed tweaking yep thats three lines off type and no gobbeldy goop yet , yep i really think its sorted

    as a matter off interest ( i turned off tapping ) what was it on for what does it do ?
