covermytravels don't offer travel insurance anymore but I got insurance to cover my wife and I from Direct Travel Insurance annual multi trip worldwide for £123. We're both over 60.0

Hi fellow moneysavers - I have just been asked by Flexicover Direct if I have any "undiagnosed medical conditions that may require treatment in the future"!!!!
OMG - would I have fun with that! I'd be tempted to say that as I'm not clairvoyant how would I be able to answer that question! And if they can point me in the right direction for an answer can they also let me have the lottery numbers for next Saturday :rotfl: .now I need some suggestions for companies which will insure me dear old Mum who has pre-existing medical conditions and is 78. Lloyds quoted me £485 for a two week holiday in Spain!
Any names would be hugely appreciated as she is getting herself into a right state worrying about her insurance.
It depends on what the medical conditions are, but my OH had seven pre-existing ones to declare last time we went away and he got the best quote from Columbus (google them, sorry I don't have the link any longer).0 -

People have many different PEMCs and insurers can treat them differently. I suggest you do what I did, read through this thread (and it's previous incarnation) and shop around until you find a quote you are happy with.
You may like to try Saga or look for recommended companies on the websites of the organisations that may be relative to your mother's condition (eg: British Heart Foundation).
Incidentally, anyone travelling with your mother that would cancel or curtail their trip due to her becoming ill will also have to declare your mothers PEMCs and have them accepted.0 -
Thanks, will do. I thought perhaps Diabetes UK would be good, but nooooo.....I think their quote was a new record!
Sometimes this idea is helpful, but last year the insurers recommended by a website about my condition refused me cover altogether!
Shopping around is the best advice I can give you, I managed to save over £800 this way as I had several insurers decline me or request premiums of over £1000 for a 2 week holiday.0 -
Try GetMy - obviously it depends what your answers to their supplementary questions are, but we found them very cheap for DH, who has a number of things to declare, although all his conditions are stable and under control and therefore unlikely to require attention abroad.
As for the PEMC question, I suppose that's to cover them for the situation I was in a few years ago when I kept being very sick and feeling very giddy. My 'condition' hadn't been diagnosed, but there was clearly something wrong, which might well have required treatment. Although the state I was in, there was no way I was going very far!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Aha, I understand the question now - funny isn't it how the meaning can evade some of us (meaning me) and others fully understand (meaning you) :rotfl: . I really ought to go and put my common sense head on!

Maybe they will only insure a maximum of 5 PEMCs per person?0

Columbus results:
Diabetes - Declined
Angina - Declined
Atherosclerosis - Declined
Hypercholesterolaemia - Declined
Hypertension - Declined
Onwards and upwards.......
Columbus also declined to insure my husband this year .He has four conditions to declare, including two operations for different cancers we have taken cover for both of us ( 67 and 65 ) with All Clear this year a single trip to New Zealand for 6 weeks is costing £5oo, not cheap but we really want to go. You can get a quote on the internet or ring on 0845 250 5200. Hope this helps.0 -
I don't remember having to declare anything for EHIC, but not sure what EHICPlus is? Do you HAVE to have it?Signature removed for peace of mind0
