Lets see if dispatches redeem themselves.

Wait till you hear the comments on statute barred debts.

Fair is fair. The very brave lady on the programme had been misinformed, but the producers did have a professional debt advisor's helping them. They should have spotted it.

Not to mention the closing scene 'seek professional advice' , but in that statement alone is a whole new can of worms, no warning about the pitfall's of the fee charging companies.

But all in all on of the better programs i have seen, yes there where glaring holes, as you say, but i think it got the point across, but not the solutions, ok solutions is probably not the best word to use there but i am sure you will understand what i am trying to say.

We have first credit, McKenzie, the times expos! of LTSB’s collection centre, and now this.

The question is if the OFT wont realise they are being exposed for the useless organization they are now, will they ever?

That at least is the most positive thing to come out of the program, the OFT being exposed for what they are, useless.
They claim their labours are to build a heaven, yet their heaven is populated with horrors. Perhaps the world is not made, perhaps nothing is made?
Its too late, always has been, always will be.

Maybe the problem is for the public to petition the OFT into making these changes. Funnily enough I PM Martin to ask his views on this very nature of DCA and what they can & can't do in the treatment of debtors. He said he didn't understand my query then said it was out of his remit to champion. I'll find my original post & let you have a read. This is the post not the PM.

I watched this with interest. I went Bankrupt Dec 08 and up until August 2008 I was a mortgage broker.

Having experience in Financial services helped but I still found the National Debt people useful and if get advice the do's and donts are there. Its about facing it, fighting it and going by the book.

I only had 1 or 2 agencies play hard ball. I wrote to every one of my creditors and told them to wright only and most of them did.

The way this company acted is not uncommon, I remember one calling for MBNA and he was mouthing off to my wife who was heavilty pregnent. He was really rude and threatened to send somebody around. Guess what a 5 minute call from me and no visit.

I have also been on the other side, I worked for Welcome Finance, I left after 6 months as its just wrong. I had to try and make a very nice lady pay a lot of money, she was expecting and was poorly and her husband was working night and day shift to pay the bills as she was the bread winner! I could not do it, went around her house, had a cup of tea gave her some advice and got a right telling off when I got to the office!

These people dont care about anything other than the £'s. Did you here when the guy was told about a mans baby's death. I hope that woman slept that night!

OK rant and life story over!! I sat shouting at the TV! Scumbags!

We had an arrears councillor around also, for the mortgage! He was an idiot, and I had to keep correcting his figures! this side of the industry is a mess and the people in it are untrained muppets!

  • I did find it interesting even though it was a bit vague

I am starting the road to BR and expect to be hounded by every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry for money that i simply do not have.
Going to start thinking of it as a little contest, the first one to send me a charge for payment wins

I would like to see more show's like that but with more details and not just focused on 1 company. I know there must be other companies breaking as much rules as them and it's hard to imagine the lengths that these companies go to for money

I don't have a tv - is it posted on any of the internet sites?

The dc agents are probably on a crapadelic wage or on comission only - they probably take the rejects from Yellow Pages sales as they are taught to be really aggressive with sales.
