Vodafone are a pain in the ***

I know but the thing is, after doing it 7 years in a row its becoming rather annoying, i always have to say ill leave, and never get taken seriously until they recieve my letter to cancel my contract.
All I want is the N97 on a 12 month contract, paying same tarrif as im paying now but theyre trying to rob me of £70. Cant be bothered with the games, if they insist I cant have it, then retention can go and sod off, ill go to another network,
Considering i pay about £80-£90 per month for my phone bill its them that will be losing out..... in my opinion (i know theyve got tons of customers)0 -
I agree, it is stupid, but that is just the way they like to do it.
All mobile phone companies appear to be the same, they give better deals to new customers and when it comes to renewals they take the risk of losing a customer rather than offering them the same as what a new customer would get.
It isn't so bad as you can keep your number quite easily now-a-days, but in the past I could imagine what a pain it was for people who needed to keep the same number for business reasons.0 -
Yeh suppose....
Oh well, you try, they dont want my money, fair enough, cant make them take it.
One way or another im getting that phone for free. Say no to vodafone being a pain0 -
I had exactly same problem with vodafone - wanted upgrade phone AND to go onto a higher spend contract (£35-£40 pm), free for newies but to me, a loyal customer, must pay over £100 for phone because my historic usage was less
So I went to Phones4u I think it was in the high street, told them what I wanted, and got it, free phone and the right contract AND cashback. :beer:0 -
Think how I feel on a £50 per month tarric, and I still cant get the phone off them :mad:0

Well just to update....
After alot of grief, hassle, and time, BUT without sending my cancellation letter in, i managed to get myself the N97 on a 12 month contract, for free... get in!
Is an amazing phone too, so im happy for another year and then it shall all start again0 -

How much you paying a month for that?
I'd also suggest that you double check the details of the deals, as there have been myriad cases of mis-selling.Try to imagine nothing ever existed...0 -
No its def a 12month contract, they try and scam me every year but it aint going to happen lol
I pay £48 per month (same as last year) for 1200mins anytime, stop the clock, unlimited texts which is limited to 3000 per month, and the data package0 -
Writing in is also probably the only way that you can get through to their Retentions Department who may be able to do you a deal. Hence, by doing this whole process, the Retentions Team have sorted the ‘wheat from the chaff’ and can deal with the people who are worth keeping rather than being swamped by everyone who just wants to try their luck. In a way it kind of ensures a better service.
It's a pity they didn't try this when I told them I was leaving!
I'd been a Contract customer since, well '02 (is this where they took their name from I wonder?), and every year the choice of 'free upgrades' got worse & worse.
Eventually, a year or so ago, I was offered just 3 'phones. None of which were suitable (2 of them were, and I quote; ''Girly phones'' as the 02 assistant put it, and therefore probably wouldn't suit me..especially as one of those was very small...the other had a 'flowery' design on it), which left me with one choice (i.e. NO choice!)...an O2 X3 (or something very similar)....again, a very small phone.
I told them of my dismay and even offered to pay them some money for a better upgrade!
They said no, (or was it the computer?!:D), so I said, enough was enough, (I'd had pretty terrible relationship regarding monthly billing with them too), I'm gonna leave. The 'upgrade assistant' basically said it was my choice and thank-you for choosing 02 (or something very similar)!
So, I left work, went down the road and got a far better deal at Phones 4 u all within 30 minutes of putting the phone down.
Usually, in my experience anyway, they at least put you through to another rep, who then offers you a better deal...not this time!
A whole two weeks went by and a customer service rep (from the 02 Retentions team), phoned me back up and asked if I'd consider changing my mind, offered me an even better phone than I'd just bought, with more minutes and texts (and probably the kitchen sink) and all this was 2 weeks AFTER I'd already cancelled the contract!
Obviously, I told him where to go!
BUT.....if you really WANT to stay with your service provider, maybe you could try waiting a while or at the very least definitely carry out your threat of leaving, that way, maybe they WILL offer you a MUCH better deal...as well as a better phone!0 -
Ive done this every year, exactly the same procedure, even retention originally said no, but in the end as usual, I got what I want, what vodafone said to me was....
"we're not allowed to offer the best deal at the start, we're supposed to make as much money out of you as possible"
Thats what a supervisor from Outbound retention said to me. Its a pity, bec they make it so hard just to upgrade, and every year tell you the same excuses...
"oh no, you cant have that phone, it costs £500" blah blah blah...
All i can say to ppl is dont give up, even though its hard work, fight for what you want, they wont want you to leave and go elsewhere.0
