Vodafone are a pain in the ***

Ive been on contract with vodafone for 7-8 years now, and every single year they make me write them a letter to cancel my contract before giving me the phone I want.
Every year I get the same story about how I cant have the phone I want, unless its on a 24month contract, then when I write my letter to leave, what do you know, they ring and offer me what I asked for in the first place.
My contract is just about to expire, so I rang Vodafone and asked for the Nokia N97 (as ive always had nokias and generally the latest one) this year has to be the most frustrating year so far, as the bloke on the phone said to me, knowone can get that phone on less than a 24month contract, when I mentioned to him on vodafones website it stated you could get the phone on a 18 month contract, he said "ill have to find out and ring you back" Obviously, he didnt.
Ive since found other places that are doing the N97 on a 12 month contract with vodafone, and for free, so why do they make you do this every year.
I pay £50 p/m for line rental, and so far the best they have offered me is the phone on a 12 month contract if I pay £70.
Does anyone else have to go through this hassle every year of writing a cancellation letter before getting what they asked for in the first place or is it just me?

You don't need to write in, just ask for your pac code that gets the same effect.0

I imagine that Vodaphone probably get 1000s (?) of calls with people just 'trying their luck' because they want a new phone. Asking you to put your wish to cancel in writing will probably scare off a fair few people who can't be bothered to do that.
Those that can be bothered (as I do every time) will demonstrate that they are seriously considering that action, and hence Vodaphone have filtered out many people through that ‘write in’ action. It is a ploy that many companies use when someone wishes to complain about something.
Writing in is also probably the only way that you can get through to their Retentions Department who may be able to do you a deal. Hence, by doing this whole process, the Retentions Team have sorted the ‘wheat from the chaff’ and can deal with the people who are worth keeping rather than being swamped by everyone who just wants to try their luck. In a way it kind of ensures a better service.0 -
is just a bit annoying they make me do it every year. Esp as we're arguing over £70,
First they offered me the N97 on a 24mth contract
then 2 weeks later they offered it to me as long as I pay £70
Whats asking for the pac code do? does this get the retention team to ring you?
I know theyll give me what I want, just annoying the process of doing it every 12months0 -
I cant be the only person on here who's had this prob surly?
Does anyone know what the PAC code does, in terms of getting the retention team to ring you?0 -
Wow, £70 / month seems a lot for a mobile contract.
The N97 is available SIM free from Play for £ 450.
This leaves you £390 "spare" - £32.50 / month.
£20 / month, sim only, 30 day rolling contract 600 mins unlimited texts.
Walk away at any time.0 -
Crossed wires mate, I pay £50 per month for my tarrif and they want me to pay a one off fee of £70 to get the phone which I think is out of order as you can already get the phone free on a 12 month contract through several places on the same amount im already spending, yet they insist on telling me they cant give me the phone for free :mad:0

I've been told Vodafone will match the dialaphone contract and you can keep your number but only outbound retentions0

hotukdeals(dot)com/item/440011/ n97-on-voda-50-a-month-12-months
Had enough, am switching networks :mad:0 -
I have had contracts with T Mobile, Orange & Vodafone, and they all pretty much have the same carry on when you want to cancel / renew your contract.
If you know exactly what you want and know you can get it better elsewhere if they don't give it to you, just make it very clear to them that you will join a rival and if they don't give you what you want, just join the rival.0
