Another vote for Dyson here. We have 3 dogs and a cat and it picks up an amazing amount. Our previous one lasted 8 years with no problems and we got a new one a couple of years ago.

Tip for getting rid of smells in carpets is to get a wooden floor ;-) or to put baking powder (bicarbonate of soda) down and leave it for an hour or two and then hoover up.

    Hi,

Just wanted to defend the Dyson!! I bought an Animal Dyson 5 years ago and mine is still going strong! I have 6 dogs and 4 cats and hoover the house every day! Yes it was expensive at over 300 pounds but comes with some good attachments, plus when one of my attachments did break, i called Dyson and they sent me a replacement free of charge!

Just wanted to give my opinion on Dyson's!! Maybe i've just been lucky! :T

I too have the Animal Dyson. It work really well. I also have 2 other dyson vacumm cleaners.
If you look after them they serve you well. The parts are easy to order and easy to fit.
I just wish i could have another one but DH has banned me from buying anymore.LOL

THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.
  • I find the Dyson pet cyliner best. I put some smely oil on a small cotton wool ball and put it inside the 'cyclon' bit. Smells lovely when you vaccum. I have got the special pet hair brush on the hose.

I like your idea of putting essential oil in with the bicarb - never thought of that. Obviously great minds think alike as we both posted about bicarb at the same time :j

I'll add to this, bought a one up from bottom Dyson in 1999 and its still only just beginning to go - had to replace 1 attachement due to me breaking it (Definately my fault) and apart from that 10 years of active service.

I recommend the Miele Cat & Dog with turbo brush - by far the vac I've ever had. Unfortunately I lost custody of it when I split up with xh and I now a Dyson that my mum gave me practically brand new because she hated it and want another Miele!! Dyson is on it's way out and then I'll be getting another Miele....

I strongly recommend using Furminator - so much less fur it won't matter so much which vacuum you use!
  • Another VAX recommendation here. I think mines is called something manly like mach 6... lol

It was around the same price as some dysons but I got it in a sale, and it's been great. I had a dyson before which had terrible suction toward the end (but it was a hand me down from OH's gran so can't be too harsh on it!). I just couldn't justify the £ for another dyson at the time :)
