My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »Still not really had time to catch up and due to be web-conferencing now but I wanted to tell you about my lovely MIL.
MIL looked after Benjamin today from 9.45 til 2.45pm which was lovely of her, especially because I asked her last minute....I went into the utility for a wee before and ALL my ironing has gone!!!
MIL has taken EVERYTHING home to iron over the next few days
Which unfortunately meant that poor Benjamin had no clean sleepsuits to go to bed in so he is squeezed into a 3-6m one
In my defence, I don't normally iron them, I only have 7 ATM (because he keeps growing out of them) and she took the stuff out of my tumble drier :rotfl:
I love my MIL!!
please send your MIL in my direction.Oh, something else..
I was telling my mum we were talking about when to stop breastfeeding. She said she stopped at six months, so I asked her what we drank between then and having cows milk at one year old and she thinks it was just water and orange squash!! (this was 23-25 years ago)
I thought babies had to have milk so it they weren't having breastmilk they'd have formula, the follow-on type until one year.. Is that wrong?I know it's been said that follow-on milks are a marketing ploy, but don't 6-12mth olds have to have milk of some description??
the 'rules' were different in our day. My mum was 'allowed' to feed us cows milk from 6m onwards and never used formula at all.
remember that cows milk can still be used from 6m onwards in cooking these daysr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
wow bruno - you are related to Jack Bauer :rotfl:
on the percentiles thing, my mother was always told that my sister was going to be very small and probably fall into 'dwarf' proportions. What rubbish - at 3 she had a late growth spurt and at 25 is now 5ft 2inchesMum now wishes she hadn't spent so long worrying about her
it's a glorious day here and LO asleep so off for a shower and get organised hopefully before she wakes upHave a PO run to do and must go to the supermarket. I spent last night making baby friendly versions of some of our favourite meals and need a couple of things to finish them off. We have discovered the LO LOVES yogurt. But has suddenly decided she no longer likes carrot
oh well.....

I'm not worried about DS's enormous proportions - both me and brother were big babies. I was predicted to be 6 foot! We just did our growing early, and I'm a very unremarkable 5ft 5.
He slept and fed really well after the trip out yesterday, so I might go for another walk today.
Cot has arrived, just got to put it together and reshuffle all the furnitute so I can fit it in the bedroom. I might have more bed space soon!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

We got the seat which the bike shop recommended. You also need a cycle helmet for the child. .
Susan what age did you use the seat from? I have one for Ruby and a helmet but she just tries to climb out when we have sat her in it. She is one of these children that can get herself out of any harness whatsoever?? so I was wondering about one of those seats that sit in front of you.Yup - that was me whilst I was about uhmmm 7 1/2 months pregnant...

Scruffy choc labs are my favourite!
Re: the percentile line - as long as the child is healthy I dont see much point to them! I got Ruby weighed this morn and she was 22lbs ( with her clothes and shoes on) and shes coming up for 17 months but DD1 was always on the slight side and she is now 5'3'' and about 8 stone( have no idea who she gets this from )19.6.10 Weight loss 6lb0 -
Keifer Sutherland is my second cousin once removed
or something like that, maybe it's even third cousin, I dunno; my dad was at the same wedding as some of the Sutherlands like 40 years ago, is all I know
Ohh wow! Maybe it could set a new routine for him!Although I guess he's a bit young and small to go that long between feeds generally. Must've been nice though!
Spent the morning so far being supportive of Elijah's cup usage, he is totally capable of picking up a normal non-sippy cup and drinking from it! However for reasons best known to himself he also likes to put objects into cups, therefore any food he is given gets dunked, and then puts his whole arms in there to try to get it back out again... usually end result is him tipping the cup upside down to get everything out!
I didn't bother with 'real' cups for Chris until very recently because its just too much hasslethe other day he was dunking his toast in a tumbler of water and then complained there were crumbs in his drink!

oh I got all excited for freebies until I saw it, I've accumulated about 10 of them
I'm just debating expressing a bit of milk for my mum to try Ed with in case he's hungry while I'm at physio app :undecided the hosp is next to a park so shes coming with me but gonna take the pram for a stroll round the park. If I express he'll probably sleep all the time but if I don't he'll probably cry so much I end up trying to feed him while my foof is being inspected! ok off to put the steriliser in the micro!0
