    hi everyone!!

'we have been chatting on preg thread and we would like to know...
what does happen after the birth?? do you go for a shower etc '

    just so we are prepared

if you were in a hospital or at home it all will help...
Probably depends on hospital policy. Mine she was weighed etc. then given to OH while I waited for the stiches to be done. Supposedly they give you tea and toast then leave you for an hour but we never got the tea and toast and they tried to make me breastfeed before they went. Ours then have you go for a bath so they can clean the room. My epidural took about 7 hours to wear off well enough for me to walk which they were really narked about as they wanted to clean so after coming back a million times to see if I was ready they decided to bring me a bowl of water and asked where my soap and flannel were (and were narked that I didn't have any). They then did a partial clean up as they were fed up of waiting and there was loads of blood on the floor (because they pulled the cord for the third stage and it snapped - I don't think it's usual to have so much blood on the floor). Also while waiting for epidural to wear off the midwife kept popping back to change the maternity pads/keep track of blood loss.

Jillie I was in hospital, fed LO then went for a shower while OH stayed with LO. I was then taken to a ward once I was sorted.

Weezl and maz glad you both had good hols.

El had a wheeled baby walker and no feet probs here.

I was a naughty mummy today, I was out walking the dog, El in toe she was dithering about. I was watching as the dog had crossed the water to the field on the other side. I was too busy looking at him, I thought El had carried on walking but she was bent down infront of the buggy and I smacked straight into. I burst her eyebrow, gave her an egg and a bruise on her forehead and a bump and scar under her eye. No real harm done tho a wee bubble then she was fine.

Are you using a bottle or cup?

Someone suggested wrapping the bottle in your top...although I think that kind of trick is more for the littlies rather than Erins age

We've just put Alice into a bed. We bought a safety gate but then discovered we have metal door frames so OH needs to get a special drill bit to be able to fit it so have gone for the temporary solution of a sawn off broom handle under the door handle. (We're not so bothered about the evening as we can send her back to bed but I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night knowing she could get out and get anywhere in the house in the middle of the night.)

While we were looking at the safety gates in Mothercare, Alice was wandering around the crib/moses basket/cot section and I just kept looking round the corner to make sure she was okay. The first time I checked she was checking out the moses baskets while saying, "Little brother, little brother, little brother." She also sometimes claims that "Baby sister" is outside and we need to let her in and then is quite sad and says, "Baby sister gone" when we open the front door and show her that no one is there. Has anyone elses child randomly started talking about baby brothers and sisters? I'm worried she'll do it in front of people we know and that they'll then jump to wrong conclusions.

She's also rather randomly declared that she and I have chickenpox and need to rest. OH asked hopefully whether he has it but was given a very authoritative "No".
