If you put the voucher in Lloyds you get £20 Boots vouchers... might come in handy for nappies?
BTW I haven't decided what to do with Alexandra's yet either...
And yes I too thought Sami was on about knickers and not kickers at first glanceDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

It just goes into my account and gets mixed in with the rest Elle. No point in baby having a ton of cash if we can't pay the mortgage
Once I was older, my mum used to give me my child benefit as a clothing allowance...but I had to buy all my own clothes (not shoes or school uniforms) with it.
But I guess that mum and dad were doing alright for themselves at that point.
Actually - am I right in thinking that Child Benefit can't be paid into an account in the name of the child?please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
money_maker wrote: »right, everyone is different with this, and I think it depends on your household income. For me personally, we struggle with Chris not working, and the money is paid to me to help bring up my children, so it goes into the bills account and used to pay for everything - ie mortgage, food etc ...
I do however have a standing order of £15 a month that goes into a separate account that has been used to buy school uniforms and things like that, and also my mum has an account for them that all birthday money etc... goes into and that is theirs for holidays and the like.
i have 4 accounts 1 is mine for every day to day 1 each for my kids for xmas or clothes or uniform or whatever they really need and 1 savings account for me for xmas or just incase a unexpected big bill comes in ... im like you im the one with all the income (what little there is of it) so this is the only way things work for memoney_maker wrote: »see this is my point, child benefit and tax credit IS NOT the childs money !!! It is the parents money to bring up the child
totally agree i generally use my SMP and tax creds to pay for the household and kids and i use CB to get by day to dayI got £50 a month of my CB from being 15.. maybe I was spoilt
i never saw my CB growing up my mum was to busy putting it in the sloth machinesx
Still searching .....:)

I don't know - I've had a search and a good nose on the gov site but it doesn't say anything about having to be paid into your account... I guess it would have to as YOU have to claim it for the purpose of looking after the child etc?
I can't remember what the form said tho... just assuming.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Yes, you are right. The notes say "we cannot pay CB into an account held in the child's name or an account that is in your name and a child's name".
Still got the notes handy from filling the form in the other day
ETA:
Also says, "The account can be:
1. in your name, or
2. in the name of your partner, or
3. in the names of both yourself and your partner, or
4. in the names of both yourself and the person acting on your behalf, or
5. in the name of someone acting on your behalf."0 -
All money we get goes into my account and promptly disapears... Any birthday/christmas money the girls get goes into their savings accounts and it's their money not to be touched... I also set up a standing order of £2 a week into Aimee's account as pocket money when she turned 5 (she also has the opportunity to earn up to £2 cash in hand if she behaves herself, but has only managed the full amount twice so far...)A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Actually, Benjamin usually wakes up as soon as he sniffs a web-conference but he has been in bed for an hour without a wimper.
