Hi 3, haven't noticed you about much last few days. How are the summer holidays treating you?
Wow, a 5yr career break - what is it that you do?

I've been about - but DD1 is dominating the lap top while she's off school!

I'm a boring Civil Servant in a department which is rumoured to be on its way out! Job is rubbish - but the perks like term-time/part-time/flexi working and career breaks make it more bearable!
My thinking now, that i'd be silly to properly leave. If i'm on a career break, i'd still be entitled to 8 years worth of redundancy pay if it happens, if it doesn't, i'd be able to go back to my job when DD2 starts school.

I have just typed out and then deleted a big long essay about how I have just realised I have lived through 5yrs of pnd. It started straight after ds2 was born and only went away about 18mths ago...I feel so sad, and so upset, about how I have ruined everyone's lives. I am on the verge of tears, but need to pull myself together or I will just slip back, guilt is a terrible thing:(

Please don't stop talking - it won't help you! You know we're all here to listen to you - and many have been through similar.
I had PND after DS's birth, and ignored it. It got worse after DD1........before she was 9 months old, me and ex had split. He blamed my pnd which I still denied having. (I blame it on him being a cheating bully - but thats another story!).
Anyhows......when DD1 was 6, i suddenly realised that I hadn't been 'me' for 9 years. I went to Dr's - which I found very difficult! I was referred for counselling and was on anti-d's for a year. I really believe they worked - i began to feel normal again. So, I gradually came off them, then had DD2 - and I still feel normal. But, if any of those feelings came back - i'd be straight to the Dr's this time.
Don't forget - we're here when your ready to talk/rant/cry!

Hope your sister is ok Button.

We went to Disneyland last year with Henry, he was about 8 months, stayed in Sequoia Lodge and it was brill.... want to again in a couple of years when he older and can appreciate it more but he did love it... we went by Eurostar but then we live in Essex so easier

Hugs Button - hope she's ok!

We took DD1 for the first time when she was 3 - it was great as she really believed in the characters! We went again when she was 6, and then 7 - when she didn't believe so much, but enjoyed the rides more.
We went all three times in the school half terms, October and June - i'd assumed the French school holidays would be different to ours, but I don't think they were, it was jam-packed!
DD almost got trampled in the crush as two elderly french ladies were so desperate to meet minnie mouse - they're so rude!
We've stayed in the Princess Dreams Hotel, and the Holiday Inn twice. Both were lovely and both had the shuttle bus.
We're planning on going again when DD2 is about 3, then hopefully DD1 will have grown enough for the big rides!

Caz - Did you have Dr's appt. on Wednesday? How did it go?

Morning SM, question, have seen the Britax Vigour in a local shop, do you think it's worth asking if they'll do it a bit cheaper as they're £30 more than the internet?
Too many children, too little time!!!

    Morning all,

    Just a quick hello really...

Buttons hope your lil sis is ok!

Mel just wanted to send you some hugs and as everyone has already said - its good to talk!

Anyone else whos not feeling that friday feeling have some hugs too! x

My baby has been stuck to me all week and I think I am finally losing the plot with it! Im just sat trying to get her to go off in her pram - pushing her back and to with my feet!

Fritha would I be able to come along to the sling meet? I have been looking at slings and baby carriers and just cant secide which one is for me! Or is it just for mums who have a sling and need help with wearing it?

Am I going mad? What is this sophie giraffe you are talking of? I googled... found one on amazon... but it looked a little like a dog toy - just a basic rubber giraffe? (sorry if that offends anyone)

Thinking of investing in a jumperoo but might go for a second hand one from ebay.... it might also give me ten minutes to get the washing up done! Well heres hoping anyway. :rotfl:

Im sure there was other stuff, but in usual Nichola fashion I cant remember any of it!

Oh apart from I am in the worst mood ever... Had windows fitted January, found the big bay was leaking in May, had that 'fixed'.
Yesterday lots of rain = more leaks Im fuming

Tara I would for sure. I got my pram from the internet, Its over £500 including car seat, found one at a really good price but emailed the shop anyway and asked for a discount and got it all car seat too for £260! Wasnt ex display or anything I was sooo happy, Got asked the other day by a mum at school if I would sell it to her for her baby for £250 woohoo

But I digress your more likely to get a discount from a shop and there is no harm in trying you can only be told No!

    Good Luck x

Hi TaraJayne - silly not to if you feel comfortable doing it :) just say "I'd really like to support the local businesses and buy from you, but I've found this on amazon/etc for xxxx, is there any chance you could match that?" or something! Good luck!
  • Morning all

Just got back from my interview and a quick trip to the allotment, so was all ready to quickly wash the marrow so Izzy can play with it (strange baby ) and tell my mum all about my interview, and they're not here! I wonder how long I will get to do things before they get back? Will crack on in a second.

(Interview went fine btw... should find out on Monday, but I'm quietly optimistic)

The other day I was sitting perched on the loo and Craig walked in busy getting his bits out and talking to one of the boys over his shoulder. He got such a shock when I said "do you mind?" as his bits were inches from my face :rotfl:

This made me laugh really loud - maybe it's good that my Mum isn't here ;)
Oh god, my mum just called me, my 15yo sister has been in a car crash, out with some boy in a car and deer jumped in front of it. Apparently the cars a write off, and it was some woman who lived near the scene who called my mum, said my sister is covered in blood and the boy is apparently in a right mess.

Police haven't even called my mum, and it happened well over an hour ago. She doesn't know where she is, so I think we are going to go down to A&E.

Oh no! I hope you've found her ok, and she's not too badly hurt have been able to bring her home. I'm sure you have more important things to do at the mo than post on here, but do let us know how she is when you get a chance.

This is totally like me - I am always looking for approval and overly value their opinions sometimes. Just as well they are very wise people;) I was terrified to tell my dad I was pregnant (despite being 28 and married ) in case he disapproved:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: He was happy thank goodness!

That was me exactly. I had this little voice in the back of my head telling me my parents are going to F$%%%^ kill me... but of course I was also married and 28, and being pregnant was only to be expected really 9 months after I got married. I think they were only surprised that it took us that long ;)

I saw the end of this programme and while I applaud the idea behind it, I felt it made for quite uncomfortable viewing....but I can't put my finger on why:confused:
I felt that too! I think it was a bit like the 'rich' family wanted a new pet :undecided

HOW MUCH for a sophie the giraffe (and why is it not geraldine the giraffe or something?) They are THE toy here aswell - all the boys have them. But Annabel is not getting one:o I'm currently thinking of listing her explore and spin Lamaze toy and buying her a second hand jumperoo - does anyone have one? and up to what age did you use it? there is one local to me for a good price ......
Chris is too big for the jumperoo style thing at surestart but he still tries to get in it! :rotfl: I think it depend on your child, chris loves to bounce and is quite slight so he did still fit in it until about 24mths but other kids were too big at 18mths!

we are talking about holidays and DH suggested florida but I passed on the idea because of LO age (6 months next week!). It's interesting to hear that Henry enjoyed Disneyland Paris at 8months - perhaps its worth us having a look at that?

If you don't ask you don't get ;) maybe split the difference then you can still be getting an ok price and feel good about supporting local business (and I've found small independents look after the customer much better than the corporate giants that don't give a stuff)

Caz: limiting the engine size may help but wouldn't solve the problem :) I had a 1litre shed but I still managed 80mph on the way to work everyday :o

Button - I'm annoyed at this woman who called ur mum  I hope ur sis is ok, minor cuts and grazes can look an absolute mess at the time but once cleaned up look like nothing xx
