    Hi MM :D

Right you filthy lot, those of you who had c sections, how long before you were physically able to drive again? I checked with my car insurance and they are happy so long as my doctor and I are happy.

Anyway, Schools go back August 18th, and if my consultant is determined to give me a c section, I have to plan how DS2 is going to get to nursery.

Because my wife is Californian - she moved out to be with me on a post-student visa which lasted 6 months (after a long-distance relationship with frequent short visits, over about 2.5 years). We had the choice of getting married before her visa ran out, or going back to long-distance! Luckily we were already engaged, so after some thought we decided we'd just sneak off to the registry office with my parents and a couple of witnesses, but make a big deal of the official wedding party later in the year when we could sort everything out.
So that turned into marrying 2 days before her visa expired, followed by 6 months sorting out a wedding! :)

Aah - that explains it then! :D
I was just being nosey! My and OH (if I decide to like him again!), said when we do it, we'll just booger off to the registry office and do it on our own and tell everyone later. (Neither of us want the big white wedding bit!).
We'd quite like to have a party - but obviously not straight after the wedding that noone knows about! So, if the party was 6 months later - that'd be ok! :D

We have just been laughing at the varying pregnant states of Sarah Beeny - I swear that woman must have about a dozen kids :D

yeah! we speculate endlessly about that! And she's kinda meaner with her little laugh at the end the more pregnant she is...

Sarah (slight bump): 'Do you think that's wise in the current market?!' :) small laugh

Sarah (massive bump) 'If it was me I'd knock the whole thing down and start again!!!!!!!!' wah hah hah hah

Home made jaffa cakes eh? Interesting! Actually I only have them in for guests and DH cos when I first had one my mum told me it was a biscuit and gave me one and I was troubled by the squishyness. When my brother asked, she said 'a little cake' and he loves them now :)

    .

Oh I know EXACTLY what you mean  how can we possibly be so old! You win (or lose...;) ) though, mine is August 24th so you're older!

I had a c-section with my first - but I was young and stupid, and drove exactly one week later.
(I also went to Blackpool pleasure beach and realised halfway through a ride, that the safety strap was right across my stitches!)

I don't actually think there is any set rules about it - its just how you feel!

I'll start by saying that if DH woke me, ever, at any time, for this reason, he'd be likely to lose his dangly bits,

Glad it's not just me then!

So, are there things he can do for you which don't go anywhere near your stitches? And can you do anything for him in return?

    Not really, no :(

Well, there is a 3rd option, which is that he loves you, and wants to show you that he loves you, and this is the only thing he can think of ATM.
I mean, we all know that most men are thinking about it all the time. :D

Ta, no that hadn't occured to me, but it definitely an option too :)

And, will you promise not to hit me if I ask, gently, if you need to go and talk to someone about the trauma? If not yet, then soon ...

No I've not... maybe I should talk to the doctor about it when I have an appointment later this week (all this getting up-and-down from the floor carrying a baby is making my dodgy knees decidedly more dodgy than they were before, but I can talk to doctor about other stuff too!).

I'm feeling left out - I'm 29 so not "old" and not "young". I think I'm suffering from middle-mummy syndrome.

I'm 29 too. Need to get on with plotting what we are doing for my birthday next year. I've decided we are going on holiday for my birthday, not DH's, and we are going where I want for once (Forrest of Dean I think), but I have to find where we are going to stay. Current plan in my head is to stay at a caravan park, go along on the Friday and stay for a week. My birthday is on the Saturday so if anyone else wants to come join us for the weekend at the beginning for my actual birthday then they can (and they can book for themselves... I'm fed up of doing group bookings, as I always end up out of pocket). And if not we will have a lovely holiday with just us :)

Ladybird - Violet rolled off the bed a couple of weeks ago, onto the pile of clothes OH leaves on the floor at his side of the bed! Now he thinks he's doing us all a favour leaving them there.

That's pretty much what DH said when I told him - there will be a permanent floordrobe now!

Oh, back to bathtime, we just use water and Dermol 600 (same as oilatum ... we get a prescription for it. I have it in my baths too, so will share Izzy's when I stop getting free prescriptions ;) ). Ocassionally we have to use a bit of shampoo, depending on what she had for tea ;)

Do any other babies insist on drinking the bath water? Izzy always grabs the sponge and sucks on it. I've ended up having to have 2 sponges in the bath so we can have one each! (She has also started washing my face for me!)

The first time round, i overdid a walk to the park within the first week and ended up doing myself a mischief so wasn't up to driving until 4 weeks. This time, i was ready to drive again after a week. But then, this time round i had an MPV so the driving position is a lot more comfortable and therefore easier to make emergency stops (which is apparently the important thing).

My insurer didn't care either way. Some don't i think.

Alice answered the phone at the same time as OH (but on a different handset) when we were on holiday. I had a little talk with her about not answering the phone. I often get Alice to complete a sentence for me to check that she's been listening so I said, "Alice mustn't answer the..."
    To which she replied, "question."

We also have conversations which go:
Me: Alice mustn't do x. Should Alice do x?
Alice: Yes. (In a very cute voice.)
Me: No, Alice mustn't do x. Should Alice do x?
Alice: Yes. (In a very cute voice.)
Me: Noooooooooooooooo, Alice mustn't do x. Should Alice do x?
Alice: Yes. (In a very cute voice.)
Me: [bangs head against brick wall]
When quite young, DS1 came out with "NOT should do that, NO" when he saw someone doing something they shouldn't (probably one of his little brothers!) It cracked us up, and remains a family phrase to this day. I even thought of it when I saw someone turn left at a fairly recently installed No Left Turn sign!
DD sneakily went and put a pullup on earlier and had a poop in it, I smelled it before I saw her and I said "I thought you were going to be a big girl and poop in the toilet?" she said "I am mummy, but it's stinky pebbles".....It was pebble'esque, so I guess she wins that argument....
What would she do if she couldn't find a pullup? I would 'lose' them, or run out ...
I suppose I need to think about when he is moving around - the house is not at all childproof (lots of wires, computer bits on the floor, huge telly on a low table, patio doors and delicate glass door).
You can get film for glass doors, and lack of it was the cause of our second trip to Casualty! :rotfl:

Tia, I drove after a month. I checked with my GP the day before and he said a month so I was off from then. I was driving to the hospital two or three times a day plus climbing four flights of stairs to get up to the unit and I really hurt after a week of that routine - don't know if it was the driving or the stairs!

I'm glad I could do an emergency stop too and hadn't gone back to driving too soon - never seen so many idiots on the road as I did in the first two weeks of being back driving! I was so nervous it was like a driving test again :(
