oh MFD i forgot that baby cannot go swimming until they have had at least their first injections due to polio being water boune and with people coming into the country that have not been vaccinated then there is more risk of baby becoming ill with it!

wow SB they all sound good!!!!!!!

ors doesnt specify, so babies can go in as soon as you want, but then it is a separate pool for them, so maybe thats why

  • LOL SB - she doesn't seem phased ( or is it fazed? ) by the stitches or the bleeding...in fact she seems quite embarrassed when I ask about either so I gave up asking.

To be fair - her 39 year old mother was embarrassed to talk about the bleeding when I had Benjamin too

Benjamin was about 8 weeks when we first took him and I don't think I would have liked to have gone any earlier...what's the point when the only way you can tell if they are enjoying something or not is if they are screaming blue murder :D

At 12 days I am not sure that we had even given Benjamin a bath yet - I just topped and tailed him until after his cord fell off.

Although - rather than picking the food up (which he can do quite easily now) he was sliding along to the side of the tray and then leaning down to pick it up in his mouth/suck it off the tray :rotfl::rotfl:

So - now I need some cheap tablecloths...or even sheets...to go underneath it. Any ideas anyone?

I bought 1.5 metres of flowery pvc from the fabric shop. At the time I thought it was probably too much, but I think I should have got a big enough bit to cover the entire living room (or maybe just remove all the furniture and carpets, and feed her in the middle of an empty room!)

I think we did the first bath at about 2 weeks. We waited until after the second injection to go swimming (MIL thought we should wait that long, and sometimes life is too short to argue ;)) - after 12 days there is no-way I was confident enough about handling baby to take her (asside from bleeding and whatnot) I would have been paranoid about dropping her in the water or something.

I keep wondering about things like this. With her mum being away I have tried to be there when I can to answer questions and reassure her...whilst I am her aunt, I have only known her for 3 1/2 years so it is a little strange to both of us. But everything seems to be going so well for them (so she tells me) that I feel a bit silly to keep asking. When I mentioned baby blues she just shrugged it off and she says the stitches and bleeding etc are fine (this is the girl who 19 weeks ago didn't even know that you bled after you gave birth ).

I guess I am just feeling a little bit redundant and hoping that things really are okay - they do seem fine when I pop around.

Maybe when you are 19 you just adapt to these things

As an 'older mother' maybe I just worry about stuff too much and find it too hard to adjust from my selfish old lifestyle

To be fair - at 19 I was awake all night every night for months and still functioning on a daily basis at uni :rotfl:
