  • Jo honey, I have asked DH who used to be a solicitor. He says if the company bounce wage cheques then thats it, they're going into administration. He also says that its best not to walk out, as if you do, you lose your right to statutory redundancy pay. He also said get your CV out there and start looking around for a new post. Sorry if that is horrible to hear and /or stating the obvious, but hugs for you and little one.

valli hugs for you too, choosing youth over experience is passe, don't they know that?
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
  • Jo - hugs for you
valli - sorry you didn't get your job.

Great - sorry not flying realted at all, but as if the email I got this morning wasnt bad enough.....we've now just heard that we may not be getting paid tomorrow!

they have been sent to the bank but they dont know if there is enough money in the account to cover them!

    Im trying not to panic.....

Don't panic. Get over to the redundancy/employment boards and see what people have to say there... (((hugs)))

Just popping in to let you know I have had the phone call and I didn't get the job as I was edged out by youth - today's interviewee got it...
ah well. They must have though he was good to wait a week to see him. Current boss thinks sel'n process has been unfair and has 'hinted' I should complain. I don't think I will. It won't make any difference.
Over the last week or so I have been gearing up for September and doing a 'if I still have my (current) job in September I will do ...'
    so not all bad.
and I shall be going off to Ikea to get some magazine racks I have decided I will need...
So I am not downhearted for that is not the Valli way (honest guv) clearly I am meant to suffer the slings and arrrows of outrageous fortune.
And I calculated what my salary would be if I were to do this full time (though I don't think I could TBH) and that cheered me up...
I have had a card from a boy in my class - he made it for me this morning and there's a little flap in it and when I lifted the flap he has sellotaped 5p to it.

Sorry you didn't get it... something else will come up, and when it's the right thing you'll get it .

I've actually done some work today... and as the sun is shining I think I might go home rather than go to the leaving drinks I'm supposed to be at. I might even get the mowing done before my parents get there...

Thanks for all your messages and support....thanks for DH's advice Grateful.....I'd gathered that if they couldnt pay the wages it would be an 'administration' scenario but dont really know what that entails.

i will go and have a look at the other boards, Ive been making wedding cards rather than facing reality!

I will go into work tomorrow though......can you ask DH for me please, why would the company say that we wouldnt be entitled to anything from the government?

Wednesday and Thursday lists done (levels 1-3 and a couple of extras).

Shame I'm not doing so well with my list of 5- was a bit overambitious to declutter and clean whole of house and get all the decorating jobs etc done too!

At least with the help of this thread the house is looking pretty good now. Finishing touches tomorrow ready for the first valuation and some serious gardening to do so it looks less jungly.

Then when I get back from hols I can do the decorating jobs etc and get house on the market. Hopefully the fact I've spent a week cleaning the place from top to bottom will make it easier to keep on top of things and keep the place looking good for viewings.

    Thanks for the supportive thread.

Hugs to all going through tough times for one reason or another. :grouphug:

Wow- finally found the xmas tree smiley! Better late than never!!

Any other teachers in secondary school on here??

Thats clever. Are you not worried about stuff running off around the sides of the hotplate?

No I tend to only put cheese in and if it bubbles out the sides it just burns off on the plates. I do scotch pancakes straight on there too - actually pouring dollops of liquid on and it is amazing how quickly it 'sets'

    Swimming done.

Popped into ASDA to avoid a downpour so have done a top up food shop too.

Washing left on the line and is now soaked in a downpour.

Put some chairs nobody wanted on freecycle out the front with a note on for people to help themselves and one has gone, 3 to go.

Going to put the dinner on and then I still have the upstairs to hoover.

Jo - sending you a hug as I'm afraid I have no advice to offer

Valli - like your spirit hun, your teaching skills are needed too much for you to give up the classroom x
BTW do you still have the laundry?
