It's been a day out day today, took the kids to Teignmouth for charity shops tour (they loved that, not!) and got a nice new (to me) cream enamel bread bin - better shape than our current one (rectangular instead of the circular one I have) so that matches our cream enamel kettle (another charity shop find I posted about several weeks ago!) Anyway pleased with that, and hubby found a book he wanted. Bought chip lunch in a greasy spoon caf! (yum!) and later got coffee choux buns to have at home. We're all too full to eat dinner now, so we just bought fresh tomatoes in case we fancy sandwiches later...
Soo.. no housework really done today except stripped the bed and put a load of washing in when I returned. I've just merrily spent two hours catching up online with all my various interests/forums.
Will try harder tonight/tomorrow! I plan to get to bed straight after Psychoville and then get up at 7am cos I am meeting my brother at midday!- Mow grass with rechargable strimmer if dry enough..

Jo - big, big hugs love. That's awful! I have everything crossed that your wages get paid. I'm sure you can get a certain amount of help from the state in such circumstances - oh, I see wise words have been added by gratefulfor.... do go in tomorrow and polish the paperclips but spend the time surreptitiously surfing the net for a new job xxx
Valli - hugs about the job. I think you're right not to complain. You'll only end up with a black mark against your name. How sweet about the 5p. Putting on my Pollyanna face, the reason you didn't get it is because there's a better one around the corner.
Though it put me in mind of a job I interviewed for a few years ago w in academia, I was 10 years older than the other applicants. Typical education establishment interview, you all sit in the room and are called in one by one. One of the questions I was asked was what could I bring to the job that others couldn't. Quick as a flash, I said 'maturity'. They ended up making me an offer. I turned it down in the end though for a better one. I saw it advertised a week or so later with a note 'previous applicants need not apply' or some such. How times change!
Tooch - well done on your exam results!
I have been busy this afternoon. Have almost done the bedroom stuff but not quite. Have also been foraging for food and have spoken at length to my sis about her wedding which isn't that far away now! Next week's job is finding a bridesmaid style dress to wear. We have discussed colours and options.
It's also been rather like the Bronx here this afternoon. I don't think there's been a quarter of an hour go by since noon without some sort of emergency siren going off. We had the Police helicopter up circling about for half an hour or so about 2pm. Then about 5pm the air ambulence flew overhead - obviously on its way home after dropping off at the hospital.
I am also rather miffed with the kids it's been do they, don't they, do they want dinner all afternoon. I still have no idea! I shall do a stir fry now I think and hope that at least one other person is hungry!I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Hi all, still feel horrible, shaky and in loads of pain, joints especially elbows. Anyway I strapped up the worst one and got on with it.
WM X 3
TD X 2
Washing rehung out twice.
Kitchen floor swept
Dirty pans and plates scraped
Bin emptied
Pots and pans that won't go in dishwasher done by hand by my DD's.:T
DW x 1
TD relocated.
Some stuff put away
Shampoo, conditioner and handwash located and taken upstairs.
2 large baskets of washing sorted, folded and distributed by my two lovely DD's again :T
Hardly slept last night but thought it best to get on with the day.
Went to work and there was a huge parade of soldiers and bands, couldn't watch as started getting too emotional as a dear friend was found recently and we'd been hoping for a couple of years that he'd be found safe and well, sadly this was not the case and I found it too much. I thought the sight of me blubbing uncontrollably might upset some of the little kids who were there, so I left, just as they closed down the road.:o
Took youngest DD for some tests at hospital, thankfully we have nothing to worry about and she was extremely brave when she was examined. So I'm very, very proud of her.:T
Thats me, hope all ok, will catch up later. xxxDFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Dh is shouting me for takeaway so will return soon to post my listCross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
Hugs for Triker - you sound like you've had a really tough day.
Best wishes for Jo.
Jellie - yup, quite a few teachers on here, some primary, some secondary - off the top of my head, sexymouse, froddington, valli, mrsgnomey, vivw, and me - I'm secondary French. (With apologies to those teachers that I've missed off this list!)
soappie - I have earned another heartplease!! I have finished clearing the unwanted pots of plants and weeds from the terrace and swept as well. I still need to find homes for the 20-30 plants I've decided to keep, but that can wait for another week. Thank you very much for the recipes.
dusty - I cut back all the geraniums in the front garden, and did all the 'brown-bitting' - removing all the dead stuff to make it look fresher. Then, I dug over the blank bit of the sunny border, and planted some new things to brighten it up. let's hope the slugs and snails give them a chance.
I'm determined to clear the rest of the kitchen hotspot tomorrow, as well as make the boys shovel out their room. If there's going to be an ebay challenge next week, then that'll be delegated to DS1 who's a whizzkid with ebay.It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0
