Can I ask you Flypeople a question, please ;) I have a plastic bin in my kitchen, lined with a carrier bag, which I fill with stuff for the compost bin. I empty it about twice a week, replace the liner, and wash it in hot soapy water. It still smells slightly of musty fruit peelings icon9.gif

Any suggestions on how to get it to smell better

    TIA, Penny. x

I find it better to empty mine every other day to prevent the smell in the first place;) I don't use a bag, just a sheet of folded newspaper in the bottom, mine will fit in the DW to wash.
dusty do you have an aga toasting bat, and if so, how long do they last? Just shelled out 20 quid for a new one since the old one was leaving bits of rusty metal on the toast. Good news is we were never anaemic though!

I do have one but I only use it for doing current buns. Regular toast or toasted sandwiches I just bung straight on the the hotplate (simmering one).

I've had mine 8 years and it is fine. I hardly ever wash it though - whilst heating it up (boiling plate) any stuff left on it burns off and can then we brushed off if it hasn't fallen off.

Going to have a cuppa and then do some hoovering before going to collect DS3.

Serena I didn't do anything heavy, cut down some raspberry canes, prune a few bits, racked some leaves out of the weeds. Feeling very sluggish actually and I've gained another lb so I could have done with using some energy really.

  • Thats clever. Are you not worried about stuff running off around the sides of the hotplate?

Hi everyone. Had to take the car this morning to get a couple of bits done on it. Hopefully nothing major though, so I've been over at my mum and dads as my dad came with me so he could drive me home after lunch at theirs.

Have invited a couple of friends for a coffee before we pick up from school but I'm beginning to regret it as DD2 was up between 3 and 4.30am being sick, so I could really do with a quick sleep instead as I'm working tonight. Fortunately DD2 seems right as rain today.

Done a few bits in the bedroom over the course of the week so I'll delete what I've done.

Not too bad. I might even try to finish the list for a star after the school run if I have a sudden burst of energy.

Hope all the poorly people are getting lots of rest and looking after themselves...if so you'll get better quicker!

    See you all later.

ETA: Hugs Jo...hope it doesn't cause too much of a problem for you. I know if that happened to us it would do. x

Don't have a DW :o Might try the newspaper trick though - thank you :A

I make toast straight onto my Rayburn plate, but haven't done toasties. Will try that later in the year when it's "in" again.
