Jo what I meant was (re the booting, which I hate) - just at the moment you need to draw in the drawbridge (even if you don'tmake a lot it's better than nothing) and cannot afford to be generous - so e bay and car boots are your friend right now as JS is not enough to live on although you should get rent paid so not all bad - I had a mortgage so it was a bit horrific when I was unemployed. On the plus side I decorated. We are here whn you want to vent.
Thanks, I know, but everyone has their own problems and Im not the first person to be made redundant and I wont be the last.
On Friday when I was at my friends, I had a good old blub and was really angry too (not that I remember this :rotfl: ) so think some of it may be out of my system for now, but applying for benefits when you are not a scrounger or an asylum seeker is never straight forward so Im sure I'll be back whinging at some point. :rotfl:
No, I knew what you meant re the car-booting.....but I dont think my stash of half used toiletries will get me much! Today Im going to have a good old clear out of my clothes etc and try to get rid of as much as I can on EBAY etc..... Ive been meaning to for a while and now there is no excuse!
Ive been making up gift baskets which I can sell on Ebay too - but dont know how much I will get for them....Im going to have a nosey and see the type of stuff thats already on there which should give me and idea. I might be better finding a local craft fair or similar and taking them there.
My mum made me up some gift labels which I can attach to them and make them look a bit more, well, professional!
My tax credits will go in on monday too, so Im not going to be completely destitute, but all the little bits and bobs should help bring in some cash at least!
Jo - I'm glad you've had a nice time with your friends. It's important to make sure you don't spend all your time on your own thinking about the problems. You need a break somtimes. I'll try to spend a bit of time looking at your CV properly tomorrow.
Thank you!
The friends I went to last night, she works in HR and so does her fella. They know of some Admin jobs which have come up in Cardiff Bay which sound quite good, so when they go to work on Monday they are going to dig out all the jobs they can and let me know.
My other friend (who I was at on Friday) she works for a council and is going to do the same when she gets in on Monday, meanwhile, I will be applying for benefits and trawling the job centre and agencies....
I just need to get on with it, and although its not the best situation to be in, I just need to get on with it really. Go through the motions and do what I can.
Thanks for all your help and support, youre all amazing. Thanks xSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Morning all
Valli - saponificatious - love it! particularly as the wiki thing talks about it being made from alcohol - sooo true! And I like RoseP's idea of turning its meaning in to something else. I shall have a think....
Elf - you're doing well
Jo - the gift baskets - you probably won't get much for them on ebay but you might get more if you go to local table tops sales - you know, the sort of thing that's advertised in the local paper and is held in church halls and stuff.
After yesterday's nice sunny day, we're a bit grey again here this morning.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

I will find out more about it on Monday xSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Jo, I am so impressed with how you are handling things - you sound very stron despite all you all have been through.
Some ebay tips - I have sold a lot of half used items of skincare and make up. I have listed it in my own made up kits or single items. I have always started the price low for things like lipsticks I have tried once to try and entice a bidder.
As a result they don't always go for much. If you have any full pots you don't need and can use the half used stuff you could maybe list those and try a higher start price.
Skincare and make up are the things that have always sold the best for me
Wish you all the best for this and I hope you make some money out of it.
I would feel the same about claiming benefits - I'm sure it's not straight forward at all.
We have lots of temps where I work and some of them have been there for 7 months, meaning a long contract for them which has helped them get a foot in the door. Are there any agencies that could help you in your line of work?
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and wish you all the best.
How you are handling this is an inspiration. I dread this happening to me and how I would handle things. You have shown me it is possible.
If you need anything feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help (I've got quite a bit of craft stuff if you need any bits for your hampers/baskets or anything else)

Good Morning All
Lovely and sunny here but not sure that it will last - dodges the flying mule from all those with yet more rain.......:o
Picked up Dyson so must actually take it out of the car and use it today!!
I really cannot decide what to do today - I had a long chat with Mum last night about the stress I have been feeling with trying to help them move long distance and all the other stuff going on in my life. Anyway she is happy for me to get rid of most of their stuff that I took home to ebay - Dad really wants me to try. But my house now looks like a tip with stuff everywhere and I cannot move let alone clean.
My thoughts are to do HHDeclutter in
LR/DR Master bedroom, Utility Room, Coal Shed - as these are the worst areas - and I mean really really bad and this would be a start
Plus S&S kitchen
Plus HHC in kitchen
Plus shopping this afternoon
Plus find WTFC stuff ready for the morning.
I am going to declutter my Armour and a cup of tea while I decide......
Jo - I am glad you are start to get a plan together - I find it helps stop those panicky feelings and gives me a focus. Your time at your friends could well prove to be productive from what you are saying as well as a nice time..... it was just what you needed this weekend!

Good Morning Everyone! :hello:
This morning it is my eldest Ds's birthday and he still is not yet awake lol.
He has been well and truly spoilt this year, which he said dso himself. Although he picked his own gifts at toy r us yesterday, most of the toys he picked were in the sale which worked out good for us.
His party has been cancelled sort of due to soem of his firend s going away to caravans with grandparents so we have put it off for a week or so then we will have it then. I feel a bit crappy in one way but we are still having a family tea party so not like we aren't celebrating it at all! Also iots very grey here too so i don't think the bouncy castle we had ordered would have much use anyway.
Jo good to see you have got your head around your situation now, your holding together really well
