I have the same problem with my 6 year old who can still wear her 2 year old's sisters clothes, even though they are far too short!
I bought some trousers from Sainsburys which are made of stretchy material. These fitted perfectly, which really suprised me as normal skirts and trousers tend to fall down unless they have the adjustable straps inside to pull really tight.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
my daughter was the same and I used to find Matalan were a skinnier fitI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Not for my dd but my ds is very skinny and I found M&S adjustable trousers best. Also try Matalan as they go by age and seem to be quite long, so it would be a case of taking various age sizes into the changing room to try. My ds is still very skinny and not very tall for his age. I just took him to Matalan and stuff from age 11 to age 13 fitted him in various styles.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Thanks very much for all your replies, you've given me some good ideas. I'll just have to take loads of different sizes and styles into the changing rooms til I find some that won't fall down. I know its supply and demand, but I can't help thinking it doesn't help with child obesity etc.0

I've ordered every style of trousers that M&S do for girls in attempt to avoid spending hours in the store trying them on (that's tricky when I have to take all 4 of them, the younger ones get very bored). dd1 has just spent over half an hour trying them, and none fit
According to their size guide she has the waist of a 5 year old and the legs of an 11 year old!

Learn to sew! I had this problem when I was at school, sizing assumes that the taller you are the larger your waist. I went for years only wearing skirts for school! And then I'd get told off for them being too short because at 14 I was wearing age 11 to get the waist size right......
Alternatively try ladies trousers if they are teenagers, petit sizes from Gap, top shop, or H&M might do the job, top shop do a size six extra tall which fits up to 6' tall!0 -

And maybe a future career in modelling!0 -
Tried various different shops, M & S & Bhs still too big for DD 8, but found some in Sainsburys with adjustable waist and really good value. I still have to adjust the button a bit, but slimmer fitting. For my DD 13 I found some in M & Co (9-13 range) and although £16 a pair they fit a lot better and are slimmer fitting bootlegs. Hope this helps someone.0
