British gas
Hi All
Last year we bought our Duel Fuel from EDF at the end of the year they put it up to an unreasonable price so we changed after searching on the internet we changed to British Gas. When EDF found out we were leaving they offered us a really good deal to stay. So we cancelled British Gas by then it was about two months we had been with them. I received final bills: electric was £42 which was reasonable and we paid but the gas bill was £220 which I disputed. This was around July 2008 after months of letters and phone calls I received a revised bill from them saying it re-placed the June bill and was now £87 so we paid it! Last week I received a letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery to say I hadnt kept up my repayments under the county court judgement i had!!! To say I was shocked was an understatement, I telephoned BG who said they would ask a Manager to phone me back Monday which didnt happen and I had to phone them. The lady from BG said I had been taken to court on 22nd Nov 08 for £87 and a CCJ issued against me for that amount. I couldnt believe what I was hearing the date on the revised bill was 20th Nov 08 and they had taken me to court for that bill on 22/11 and more than likely that bill would of still been on its way to me. I have never had anything about being taken to court or anything from the courts etc. They have said it's their mistake and have called off the debt collecters and applied to have the CCJ reversed, but Im still really mad and feel that they should be doing more they blotted my Credit Reference for 8 months for no reason at all. Any suggestions?????

Similar thing happened to us with Black Horse Finance. They registered a CCJ against my husband's name for a debt that was not his, and we got £100 compensation (£50 offered initially)Start Date: 27/11/2010
Padding: Day 42
Target £8000
Amount: £562.230 -
I did phone solicitor but they wern't interested unless it's more than £5k. I just feel like they've got away with it!! I think I will write to Chief Exec.0

Hi
I am with a company that will save you money compared to rest of the Market and we have French & Saunder's saying it as well
If you would like me to send you a link with French & Saunder's or a Free Information Pack, Please let me know
SPAM SPAM SPAM 8 more posts all spamming for a dreadful company.
You are not allowed to spam on this website.
French and Saunders have a justified reputation for comedy, which is appropriate because the company that they represent are a joke regarding gas and electricity prices - just about the highest prices available in UK.
You should be aware that Martin has banned any reference to that company outside of the designated thread.0 -
Hi
The only problem with all of the different compare site's out there is that they are a Business and are only out there to make money for there Businss/Pocket
In other words they will say the Best one to go for will be the one who pay's them the Best that day, a good way to test this is go on to a compare site and put the name in of one company, it will now tell you to change to a different company, now do it again and put in that you are will the company that it told you to change to, it will now tell you to change to a different company again,
But it told you the first time to change to one company that is going to save you money and then when you say you are with the company that is the cheapest (as it just told you) it is telling you to change again
The reason for this is that they are in it to make money and not save you money, TRY IT..........
edited out the rest of the post because on checking it was not only incorrect, they were one of the most expensive based on the usage comparisons I used it was also blatant spam touting for personal business probably to line their own pocket, just the same disreputable practice I have come to expect & personally experienced from agents of this company.
Having used the above technique previously, it's why I only use comparison sites for a guide. The poster is correct, often if you change the supplier to the one recommended, you can find yet another cheaper deal.0 -

If this is the first you know about the matter, ask for details of the case number and county court the judgement was obtained from and then apply for judgement to be set aside.
If you did not reply to the claim form, the claimant will have asked for judgment 'by default'.
If you are sent a judgment with the heading 'in default' but you did not get the claim form, you can ask for the judgment to be 'set aside'. (This means you are asking for the judgment to be cancelled.) You can only do this if you do not think you owe the money. If the judgment is set aside, the court will take your entry off the Register. You will not have to pay a fee.
If you want to ask for the judgment to be set aside, fill in Application Form N244 (free from any county court office). Say that you did not get the claim form and why you do not think you should pay the judgment. You must provide evidence to support your application. You will have to pay a fee to make the application. Court staff can tell you how much this is, or you can get information from the County Court Fees leaflet (available at any county court or from our website, https://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk). Keep a copy of your application form.
You should not ask for the judgment to be set aside if you agree you owe the money. If you cannot pay the amount the court has ordered, read the leaflet 'I cannot pay my judgment - what do I do?'. You can get this free from any county court office or from our website https://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk
Once it has read your application form, the court will arrange a private hearing for you and the claimant to discuss your application with the district judge. The district judge will decide whether to cancel the judgment. If the judgment was not made in your local court, the case will be transferred there before the hearing is arranged.
You will be told when and where to come to court.
If you do not go to the hearing, your request to have the judgment cancelled could be dismissed (rejected). You may have to pay more costs and the claimant may take other steps to get the money you owe
Please do this yourself; do not hope someone/BG will do it for you. This is important as a CCJ on your credit history will cause you ongoing difficulties."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Something the spammer has clearly not tried. It is a lie. Put in the recommended supplier and a second iteration will result in that supplier still being at the top with a £0.00 saving and the rest following with their negative savings.
(Of course, if you are noodle-brained enough to not use the same consumption and not choose the previously suggested tariff then things are mixed up.)0 -
Are you serious, you really don't know how to use the sites properly to get different results from the same data ?
comparison sites are only usefull as a guideline, they are not accurate, or do you claim otherwise ???.
just tried AGAIN, used a mixture of DD and cash, saving £145 then used the generated consumption figures to do another comparison, being with same supplier, this time by switching save £63. The secondary saving results are misleading, the first results a good guidline for the benefits of saving. Now don't be so lazy, try it yourself.0 -
