    Hey Ladies,

I thought I might join you if that is ok? I know I wasn't normally on the 12month+ thread but as we had a miscarriage in April at 8.5 weeks I'm not feeling 100% comfortable moving over to the pregnancy thread.

I posted on the 12month+ thread because I wanted to thank everyone there for giving me all the support I needed to be able to get back to this point of being pregnant again, however, after reading Nicki's post I'm really worried that I've upset people.

I got my BFP on what is considered 3 weeks 3 days pregnant (but was actually CD29 - if that makes sense) so tomorrow I will have known for 2 weeks even though I'm only just over 5 weeks. I've already spent the past 2 weeks worrying myself sick, I know that it's not healthy but I just don't know how not to, and have no idea how I'm going to get through the next 3 weeks. I'm dreading week 8 as I know this is when you are most likely to miscarry as it is around the date you would normally have a period and most genetic defaults create a spontaneous miscarriage at this point. I just don't know if I'm strong enough to cope with another miscarriage. I wish I could just fall asleep tonight & wake up at 12 weeks.

I keep having the memory of the miscarriage in my palm flash up in my head too.

Sorry to sound like a crazy person/moaner - I know so many people on here have had it much worse than me.

On the plus side my boobs are very lump & sore and I have been feeling slighty nauseus like with DD but not with the miscarriage.

There are loads of pregnancy multi-vitamins out there which can be taken for the whole of the pregnancy and afterwards too. They all contain folic acid, but you don't have to stop taking folic acid after 12 weeks, its just that there is no evidence that it is beneficial to do so after that point. The other things will do you good if your diet isn't fantastic. Personally, although I took folic acid I haven't bothered with anything in the last few months as I find the multivitamins make me feel sick, and give me killer indigestion

Thanks again Nicki:D I will ask the nurse/midwife nearer the time, am currently taking pregnacare so will probably stay on that as it is a good quality vitamin and it says on the box can be taken all through pregnancy and breastfeeding. I think I like the idea just because all the swine flu scare mongering thats going on.

Day off today, tried having a lie in but typically the maintenance guys chose today to do lawn mowing etc on the estate. I did get some sleep but was disturbed! A little worried by Nikabellas 8 week statement as am now just rolling into that week and its not giving me much hope for bean 2 :(

Sorry Somnium, I didn't mean to worry you. That's just what I was told by my rather uncaring GP at the time.

I believe they say if they can hear see a heartbeat at 8 weeks the chance of miscarriage is only about 3% or less so really by 8 weeks the odds should be really starting to pick up.

    Hi All,

Nikabella - I tried to PM you back after your msg, but your inbox was full Hun! Glad to see that you are posting here though! Don't worry - you don't sound crazy - well no more than the rest of us anyhow!!!!!

OMG - All this talk of prams & pushchairs etc has got me scared! I am pretty clueless when it comes to all that stuff. All I know is that I'll have to research them carefully as I am quite tall (I have my kitchen worktops a couple of inches higher than normal, and don't even get me started on ironing-board heights!). I want something which can handle rough terrain for when DH & I go back to our walking, maybe one of the ones you can jog with? (DH already decided when LO is small we'll have a back-carrier so we can hopefully get back to our hiking & coastal-walking - he did this when his DS#1 was small, many years ago). As I'm gonna be jobless pretty soon, I guess I'll be trying to find 2nd hand or mega-sale bargains!

I already know I want to use re-usable nappies (probably the ones with disposable inners) except when out for the day etc.

As for clothes, well my best mate is due to have her 2nd in November, 4 months before I am due, so she's already said not to buy too much little stuff, as from her experience with my godson they grow out of it really fast, and she is not planning any more so will pass everything straight on to me! (I'm gonna have a to buy just a few things though - they are just so cute and I want to sit and look at them LOL!!!!).

Still wondering about the OSCAR scan..........

OOHH - nearly forgot (PG brain my mate calls it!) Vitamins & pills:

I am on high-dose folic until 12-14 weeks, so I take pregnacare and an additional folic tablet. After that I'll drop the additional but carry on with the multi-vit all the way through (been taking it for years now anyhow!). I'm also on 75mg enteric aspirin until 12-14. This is due to previous miscarriage, and my consultant apparantly always advises this.
I also have to carry on taking my BP meds, which they assure me are safe thoughout PG.

This is nothing to all the vits etc we were taking in the 3 months before treatment! DH & I followed the regime in 'geting pregnant faster' (forget who it is by) and did the 'organic as much as possible' too (my mate is calling my bean 'Organo-Babe' which has kind of stuck as a nickname now!). Don't know if this helped us get this far, but it didn't hurt!

Aww FE dont panick about the PC much you'll find something there are plenty of off road pushchairs on the market with hight adjustable handles that will suite you, if you want a jogger though, make sure you buy one thats made for it. I know Mothercare does some on the internet but have never seen one. Will keep an eye out for bargains for you though. Oh and thanks for the advice on vits.

As for re usable nappies I would love to use them but our house is so tiny its just not feasable. On the bonus side the Mil has offered to buy all our nappies, so have agreed with her will use nature nappies as there eco friendly and she uses them in her nursery and says there fab.

Is this because you wouldn't have room to dry them, or are you thinking storage-wise? I've bought enough reusables to only have to wash every 3 days, and they all, together with the boosters and the liners fit in one storage box, whcih is about the same size as the boxes you get containing multi-packs of disposable nappies. If you go to the nappy lady site, she is quite good at recommending nappies which fit your living arrangements. The ones we got are virtually dry when they come out of the washing machine anyway, so would definitely dry on a drying rack overnight.

Whether I actually do use reusables once baby arrives is another thing of course! I must confess I was a disposable all the way girl last time round, but I'm at least starting with good intentions this time!
