  • Morning All

Like 40sm yesterday, I actually have to do some work today. Plus re-do something I had already done :confused:Looks like someone has been in one of my files and deleted stuff. Very weird!

MP~thanks for the Live for Today message.

Oh gosh, yes, enjoying your children. Mine are 4.5 and nearly 2. They are the reason for living most days. They can drive me insane and equally fill me with joy. Sometimes even at the same time :rotfl:I

Last night I read two whole chapters of the eldest ones book. Normally it's just one and back to my wine glass. I love that we can share a proper story book now instead of just a book with pictures. I went up to the loft and had a look for some of my books when I was little. We're reading The Magic Faraway Tree. Anyone remeber that one? Jo, Bessie, Fannie and !!!!!!.........in the most recent edition names have been changed to Frannie and Rick :rotfl:I'm just sticking to the original though. Queer is queer, not strange etc. It's a funny old word we live in now!

    Much love X
    Need to start again :o
  • Hi FH

Good luck with the " work " today.. I see that the computer gremlins have got to you .... I get them sometimes at work .... files just disappear:confused: really, really annoying. As you can see I am " working from home" this morning :rotfl:then I will be working hard in the office later

    Have a good day ,

Made a decision yesterday/today, I'm looking for a new job. I love the school job, stressful but easy and love the kids and the holidays (except the 6 week one which is toooo long), but I need the money big time. I'm fed up with never having money and never being able to pay all my bills every month. Plus it's not helping with the drinking as I'm in by 4.30pm and the bell tolls, previously when I worked in London I got in at 7pm which is less time of the tolling. Maybe a bit drastic and I know that people would bite a hand off to get the job I've got but things are going downhill so drastically financially that I need to put a stop to it quickly.

I've tried budgeting, bulk cooking, cooking from scratch. I ebay, freecycle etc etc but it doesn't seem to help. I'm desperate to take the kids away on holiday even if just for 3 or 4 days this year but I don't think we are going to be able to manage it :( we didn't take them last year as we couldn't afford it. I have no way to save anything, xmas was a nightmare last year because we was so skint. My car needs servicing but can't afford that.

I know money isn't everything and I'll probably be flamed (espesh if this was on the OS board ) but I think it's time to move on to a new job.

There, I've said it. I've done my CV and I'm going up to London on Friday to visit all the agencies.

Big decision Jo, and obviously not one you've come to lightly. Its a shame you have to leave a job you like but sometimes needs must.

I'll be in the same boat next year. When Piglet starts school I won't be able to do the hours I do now (4-8) and if I do daytime hours I'll be scuppered in the holidays. Its a nightmare trying to think of what I'll do, to be honest.

And why would you be flamed? You're trying to improve your situation so you can provide better for your children etc. I think thats admirable!!

Good luck on the job hunting. I totally understand where you are coming from as we are also struggling financially and cannot afford a holiday AGAIN this year . The stupid thing is that I do earn a fairly good salary but DH was a househusband for 5 yrs and it really took its toll on us financially and we are now in thousands and thousands £s of debt:mad:. Now that DH is working we are no longer adding to our debt but it is not really coming down either. In an ideal world we would all like to be able to work school hours but if you are constantly stressed out about money it does not create a good environment for the kids. What line of work were you in before working in the school ?

115k hope whatever you had to do today went well? Big hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you Budgie honey. It went okay but I was in a foul mood after and did drink that day and all my usual trying to mix a soft drink with an alcoholic drink went out the window and I got totally legless. We were watching a film and I kept drunkenly talking all the way through.
(This was at home by the way not at the cinema, that would have made me even more annoying!):rotfl:

I did drink again last night but much less and lots of water at the end so I feel much better today.

So I am still on 2/31 days. I have to go back and read through the rest of the pages to catch up. You have all been talking a lot on here lately.:D

  • Jo, well I'm with you I desperately need a new job too. Been playing it safe with this one for two years. Both children are in secondary school. The original plan was to stay there for a year, then life happened, throw in a credit crunch and there you go !
Like you and 40SM am not getting anywhere financially intil I do something about it.

The two surely have to be related as I have always suffered horrid PMT - treated with copious amounts of red wine.

Do you know it is weird Fay but I really crave red wine when I have PMT (and I usually drink white wine.)

Miss Piggy...your post brought tears to my eyes. Our children do grow up so quickly and we should make the most of every minute but I also think the same about time spent with my DH.My first DH was only 27 when he died and you just never know....
So much time was wasted at the bottom of a wine or whisky bottle:o
My girls are now 34 and 25 but I still try to spend a special moment with them everyday...even if it is only on the telephone.

How sad Molly Polly and Miss Piggy. It does make you think about taking time to tell the important people in your life how much they mean to you.

Good luck Jo and Different Corner with finding a new fabby job.

 to any new people on this thread.

Right, I'm not sure if I will be AF today or not I will report back later.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the day.

What line of work were you in before working in the school ?

I was a PA for an Architect, I don't miss working there as I was there for 9 years and it was time to move on, but I do miss working in the city and having the 'buzz' of working in London (although I know in my first week I'll be moaning about the underground :D).

It sounds quite crass but I am really looking forward to coming home and thinking I can't be bothered to cook and saying 'lets order pizza' :D Can't remember the last time I ordered take away unless it was a mystery shop so I was getting the money back for it :rotfl:

Just sent my CV off to loads of jobs on the interweb, doubt anything will come of them though as I know from experience that most of the jobs advertised don't even exist, but hopefully 1 or 2 of the agencies might ring me to come in and register with them

Right off to mummies now, speak to you all later xx
