Good morning all
Up bright and early this morning (thanks Piglet ). May even get my ironing done today....or maybe not:rotfl:
Caz - hope you are feeling brighter today. I used to do the same. If I was having a bad day at work I'd detour to the wine aisle on the way home. Trouble is, even when you're doing it you know it doesn't help. I hope you are ok today.
69chick - good to see you back - was getting worried!! Are you feeling properly better now?
I had a real laugh on here yesterday afternoon. And I needed it. A friend popped in out of the blue. She looked absolutely awful as she arrived and she soon told me that a very serious medical condition had reared its ugly head once more. Its life threatening and is already having various effects on her.
When she originally had the condition about 7 years ago she was so positive about it. She went through so much and I really admired her. This time she's fearing the worst and I hate to see her like it. She even talked of her funeral and it scared the life out of me! We had a laugh too and I did my stern miss piggy voice on her - saying she was stronger than any illness and she can fight it.
Anyway, what I'm getting round to, in a very longwinded way, is that it really made me look at MY life. I am SO grateful we are all fit (ish!) and healthy. Yes, we are broke a lot of the time. Yes, we have problems to deal with here and there. But nothing compared to having to fight for your life. She said to me that I should cherish every moment with Piglet (she has a 5 year old daughter) and I sat there saying that I did and I do. Did I though??? All those times I started drinking mid-afternoon on a Saturday. Was that cherishing my time with him??? I don't think so. Every time we sat in a pub garden and OH had to go and play with him on the slides and swings cos I dodn't want to leave my glass. Was that cherishing my time? Nope. All very sobering. Literally.
Anyway, on a lighter note! Those feet were awful. Right put me off my crisps at work they did! And a colleague walked behind me just as I was reading the thread and asked me what the hell I was looking at!!:rotfl:I just love being part of this thread - it really cheers me up and helps me keep things in perspective!!! (ie...my feet aren't great but at least they don't look like THAT!!)
Ta la for now

Caz hope you are okay.
Bells were ringing at 9pm as BB started, urge-surfed through it.
I love that springwatch girl post, in fact when I went AF through May, I did receive comments that I looked really well.
Miss P, I'd like to adjust target to 14. Unless the powers that be add another 2 days to month of August I don't think I'll acheive. So far I'm 2/14.
However I am going totally AF September and possibly October. I know the wise amongst us say one day at a time, but my vague long term plan is to be ready to stop for good 2010.
Morning DC!
Taget adjusted for you, no problem.
Good for you on going AF in september!
Re: getting the urge when BB comes on. I used to actually prepare for certain programmes by having a bottle of wine in the fridge etc. I once read somewhere that Cilla Black enjoys a bottle of champagne each time Corrie comes on. She must get plastered now its on so much!!!! I guess its all about habit and routine. Just need to create new ones. Easier said than done sometimes though. Good luck!

Thanks for that. A reality check. They kick you up the proverbial don't they. Good you have that sort of honest relationship though.
You know when your children are little newborns and you are going round the supermarket or such like, every sweet little old lady comes up and goes
"Aaaaah, enjoy it, they grow up too fast" I've only just realised how right they are ! I look at my 15yr DS as he towers above me and think of the 'wasted' moments.
Food for thought.DC.

Hello all,
Well none last night either, other 1/2 opened bottle of wine, normally on her 1st day back from abroad I'd get p****d with her...but no!
She's having a bit of a 'blip' with her illness, nothing like as bad as before but still very draining on my patience....BUT if I had drink/booze it would be much harder for me to help her...so staying strong! Tonight is the last night in my own '7 day challenge' but will carry on as feel much much better.
Put me down for 4AF days already!0 -
A young couple decided to wed. As the big day approached, they grew apprehensive. Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice. "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage." His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?" "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiance will be put off by them." "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed." Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom." Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful." "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has bad breath in the morning." "No, you don't understand,. My morning breath is so bad, I'm afraid that my fiance will not want to sleep in the same room with me." Her mother said simply, "Try this. In the morning, get straight out of bed, and head for the kitchen and make breakfast. While the family is busy eating, move on to the bathroom and brush your teeth. The key is, not to say a word until you've brushed your teeth." "I shouldn't say good morning or anything?" the daughter asked." Not a word," her mother affirmed." Well, it's certainly worth a try," she thought. The loving couple were finally married. Not forgetting the advice each had received, he with his perpetual socks and she with her morning silence, they managed quite well. That is, until about six months later. Shortly before dawn one morning, the husband wakes with a start to find that one of his socks had come off. Fearful of the consequences, he frantically searches the bed. This, of course, wakes his bride and without thinking, she asks, "What on earth are you doing?" "Oh, my," he replies, "you've swallowed my sock!"

Morning all,
Well I'm here at work and feeling miserable. Not looking forward to the day ahead, but time will tell how it goes!
Had a bit of a cry this morning when I got up.Am determined not to cry at work today, like I did yesterday!
Luckily, I have a waxing appointment tonight at 6.30pm which I have to drive to, so I will be able to escape the lure of the booze, even if I end up having the day from hell, so that's a positive. I know the ultimate aim is to be able to resist drinking full stop, rather than go out and avoid it, but I'm not at that stage yet.
Thank you all for your support, it has been really nice to read through your posts this morning. It has helped and I know I'm not alone. I'm trying not to self loathe too much - I'm not doing too bad so far!!
Hugs to all and here's hoping my day turns out to be bearable...........

Hello people just thought I would drop by and post my lifestyle changes over the last 6 weeks.
I have about £3,500 of debt, £1,200 which is Sub Prime Credit Card debt the rest is a mixture of mail order and loans, I decided that I am paying out too much on debt every month and having only a small amount of cash left in the bank on a monthly basis (< £100).
Applied for a bank loan which I signed and sent off the paper work for, £2,000 which will clear all the credit card debt and catalogue debt and have about £300 left off the loan to which I am giving to my partner for her holiday, so, all in all the loan will cost me £73 per month and I am currently paying £150 per month on Visa debt and £70 per month on Catalogue debt, therefore I have saved £147 per month on that, another loan which is due to end this month is costing me £200 per month so from next month I am up by £347 per month (getting better), I have quite smoking saving £50 per month (rolled my own), cut back on the Tesco shopping bill - soon to move to Aldi, saving me £40 per month, an old 02 mobile phone contract I have canceled saving me £25 per month.
So, by August pay day I should be up by about £450 ish.
So as you can see allot has happened over the last month and I am determent to keep going and finding ways to free up cash and reduce my debt.
Great thread and a wonderful group of supportive people.
Regards
