Up bright and early this morning (thanks Piglet ). May even get my I had a real laugh on here yesterday afternoon. And I needed it. A friend popped in out of the blue. She looked absolutely awful as she arrived and she soon told me that a very serious medical condition had reared its ugly head once more. Its life threatening and is already having various effects on her.
When she originally had the condition about 7 years ago she was so positive about it. She went through so much and I really admired her. This time she's fearing the worst and I hate to see her like it. She even talked of her funeral and it scared the life out of me! We had a laugh too and I did my stern miss piggy voice on her - saying she was stronger than any illness and she can fight it.

OH Miss P, that is so so sad. As you are such a lovely lovely person I just know that you are going to offer such great help and support to her.:A . I was brought up a Catholic and must admit I don't really "do " the religious bit other than for school( boys are at catholic school ). However from time to time I still say a little prayer and "know" that someone is listening to me. This is one of those times .... I have said a little prayer for her. I hope it helps.
My husband would think this post very weird as he is very non religious:rotfl: but heywho knows!
Hope you have a lovely day.

Taget adjusted for you, no problem.
Good for you on going AF in september!
Re: getting the urge when BB comes on. I used to actually prepare for certain programmes by having a bottle of wine in the fridge etc. I once read somewhere that Cilla Black enjoys a bottle of champagne each time Corrie comes on. She must get plastered now its on so much!!!! I guess its all about habit and routine. Just need to create new ones. Easier said than done sometimes though. Good luck!

Oh , Miss P, that has made me chuckle so much:T:T

Each had a problem they had never before shared with anyone, not even each other. The Groom-to-be, overcoming his fear, decided to ask his father for advice. "Father," he said, "I am deeply concerned about the success of my marriage." His father replied, "Don't you love this girl?" "Oh yes, very much," he said," but you see, I have very smelly feet, and I'm afraid that my fiance will be put off by them." "No problem," said dad, "all you have to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks, even to bed." Well, to him this seemed a workable solution. The bride-to-be, overcoming her fear, decided to take her problem up with her mom." Mom," she said, "When I wake up in the morning my breath is truly awful." "Honey," her mother consoled, "everyone has bad breath in the morning." "No, you don't understand,. My morning breath is so bad, I'm afraid that my fiance will not want to sleep in the same room with me." Her mother said simply, "Try this. In the morning, get straight out of bed, and head for the kitchen and make breakfast. While the family is busy eating, move on to the bathroom and brush your teeth. The key is, not to say a word until you've brushed your teeth." "I shouldn't say good morning or anything?" the daughter asked." Not a word," her mother affirmed." Well, it's certainly worth a try," she thought. The loving couple were finally married. Not forgetting the advice each had received, he with his perpetual socks and she with her morning silence, they managed quite well. That is, until about six months later. Shortly before dawn one morning, the husband wakes with a start to find that one of his socks had come off. Fearful of the consequences, he frantically searches the bed. This, of course, wakes his bride and without thinking, she asks, "What on earth are you doing?" "Oh, my," he replies, "you've swallowed my sock!"
Quietly slopes away ......

Oh stupid me, I should have gone to spec savers - I didnt read all of the thread title, I thought this was a general giving up and cutting down discussion, I did not realise that it was specific to Alcohol.
Well never mind, posted anyway, as it happens I have given up alcohol as I cant drink for at least 3 months due to an illness I had about a month ago, I used to go through 4 cans of Stella most weeks days and out on a Friday night for a few jars but tis no more.
Once I have recovered fully from my illness I will drink but only once per month.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

Good morning everyone.
Caz...I hope things go better for you at work today....ENJOY the waxing appointment:rolleyes::D
Yesterday has gone now and today is a new sparkly shiny one so good luck.We have all been there and felt how you are feeling but it will pass....Chin up.
Miss Piggy...your post brought tears to my eyes. Our children do grow up so quickly and we should make the most of every minute but I also think the same about time spent with my DH.My first DH was only 27 when he died and you just never know....
So much time was wasted at the bottom of a wine or whisky bottle:o
My girls are now 34 and 25 but I still try to spend a special moment with them everyday...even if it is only on the telephone.
Learn from yesterday, Live for today, Look forward to tomorrow.
And
Take care of you

Maman, no the choklit had no connection with OH wanting me to be AF, he just found a BOGOF on them on his travels yesterday! I ate over half of it and it really was HUUUUGExx
DC, congrats for the AF night and good luck for your long term AF plan. I too plan my drinking round programmes, it's the trigger me thinks
WBF, I've noticed you've not returned since seeking out 'that' page....I hope the feet didn't frighten you away, maybe we'll send out a search party for you! xx
WB, who's not posting now huhxx
AF last night for me, had the obligatory crap nights sleep, sweats, vivid dreams, tossing and turning. Was lucky if I got 20/30 minutes sleep at a time and this morning feel like I've bit hit by a bus, but, I'm not hungover
Off to pick up some things I've got off freecycle in a minute, then taking DD1 over to my mums as DD1 came back from holiday yesterday, so tanned it's stupid. I'm thinking that her being away had something to do with me going totally off the rails this week, I've been very down and depressed. But I picked her up last night and the bells didn't really toll for me, I had decided on an AF night as I was so down and depressed that I thought it wouldn't make much difference and then when I got the call that she needed picking up I had brightened up a bit and took my purse with me. I thought I'd go to the shop, buy some beer, pick her up then had to pick up some other freecycle stuff I'd got on the way home. I didn't go to the shop, decided I didn't fancy it afterall :T very odd
Plus, first time I've been awake after 10.30pm for over a month
