I have been chatting to my OH and we've decided that our fun thing that we are doing together tonight is.......... me learning how to play poker :j

I think that's pretty cool myself !

My OH is very good at poker (she does not play for "real" money by the way) and she is going to start teaching me tonight. I've said for ages I'd like to learn how to play and then we can invite some friends over for pretend money poker nights with drinks (non alcoholic of course!!) and nibbles.

I'm quite looking forward to it actually. I watch it on telly with her sometimes and I'll be darned if I can understand what's going on!! So this will be a bit of a project, as playing good poker takes time to learn.

But at least I'll be using my brain and my hands will be full of cards, not a boozey drink!! :D

    Hugs

    Jo -

I think the beer was this one. I saved the bottle so I could remember but Mrs BHB had a tidy up  :

I got a selection pack with 20 assorted bottles. Still have some left. But have to say only one or two of them are better than Bitburger.

However, the wine is a completely differnet story. If you like cava then this was very nice nice:

Re the holiday parks. Not really sure as they are about as far away from my ideal holiday as you can get :o. Having said that, I have heard the haven Seashore one is good and much cheaper than pontins (..... don't tell OH :rotfl:) This one is right on the beach and only 10 mins walk down the seafront from the main seasidey stuff. Its far enough away from town to not have any trouble I would have thought.
Have to say though .... my idea of hell . Give me a quiet empty field, a caravan or tent and a cow looking over the fence any day :rotfl::rotfl:
Come and pitch a tent on our field  .... Don't mind the smell of goat do you ? :rotfl:

There are others but don't really know anything about them, sorry. I would say that Vauxhall park is quite a way from the beach and town though. Its about a couple of mile walk

Haven is right on the beach .... well the other side of the road.

Hope that helps .... don't forget your passport :D .... And don't speak to any weird balding chaps with a funny accent :rotfl:

ETA. Sorry - forgot about this one :

A bit out of the way, but certainly quiter than Caister

Oh yes, me too, I agree. My OH and I love camping in quiet basic sites. We found a great one last year on the Isle of Wight - just some horses in the next field, all very relaxing and lovely!

I sat out every evening watching the scenery and the world go by, but unfortunately I also drank large amounts of gin and bitter lemon - until I passed out on my airbed!!

    :eek:Oops!

We want to go back to the Isle of Wight camping next year. I will do my best to make sure it isn't even a tenth as boozy as our last trip!;)

  • Well done maman, I think with the right atmosphere and people we dont really need booze to have a good time. The need for booz to have a good time was programmed into me from an early age when I started drinking at 16. I'm slowly beggining to realise I can go out and only have a pint or two and still have a great time!

Thanks Andy, I have stayed at the seashore one a few years ago, not quite as big as Caister, I might have another look at it.

I know the area quite well as we were house hunting round that way a few years ago, I love the area between Yarmouth and Caister, particularly around near the race track. It's somewhere I always feel at home. Everyone is really friendly and there are lots of weird balding chaps with funny accents to talk to, unlike London where people won't even look at you :rotfl:

Thanks for the beer link, I shall take a look now but be a bit more restrained that the 70 odd quid you spent

By the way, done no housework  OH is gonna kill me, the whole reason we decided I dropped 13k a year and got the job in the school was so that when I was off I would use the time to decorate, tidy, do the garden etc etc....I worked the 1st week doing overtime but last week and today I've done exactly nothing. Just cooked a yummy lunch though

    NewImage.jpg

I'm absolutely stuffed now, only ate half of it. That was what I cooked for dinner last night but I was so drunk that I didn't want to eat so made it for OH and saved some garlic, chillies, shallots and a chicken breast and just cooked myself a full scale dinner for lunch! :D Feel better now though, that is definately a hangover curing lunch :)

Although now I've got tons of washing up added to the housework

Putting off the inevitable house cleaning prior to G/F returning tomorrow pm....so some ideas re;supplements/food when detoxing or having a while AF!

Ok...I take milk thistle/vit b/multivits....which can all be googled for their benefits. Milk thistle is said to help repair/protect the liver & if you drink a lot then vitb is said to be defficient too (funny story on this...I've got the slow release ones from holland & barret...turns your urine very dark yellow/orangey....was at a public blokes loo by the sea...all blokes doing their 'business' (!) & me too....noticed mine was so dark/yellow-nearly orange it looked like it had been coloured with food dye!....so all the blokes are obviously looking down (never side to side-ask any man)..obvioulsy wondering who's pee is that strange colour!!!).

The dread 'five a day'....if you're like me & a bit lazty re fruit/veg... smoothies are THE ANSWER. Some cheap orange juice, 500g strawberries &/or blackberries (both only £1 FROZEN-cheapest & best for smoothies- at farm foods!)...apples, cheap aldi fruit, grapes....etc...measure 200ml (or grammes in weight-same thing!) juice in to a blender, add approx 80gms of up to 4 types of other fruits (the berries in particular & apples are very high in anti-oxident-good to detox & good for the skin too!)...BLITZ for TWO whole minutes...DRINK & enjoy! If you have 4 lots of fruits with your juice that's the daily allowence in ONE drink!

As smoothies have a fairly high GI CONTENT (IE ABSORBED/DIGESTED QUICKLY) best to have after a protein rich/carb rich meal.

Also...GREAT hangover cures! You can FEEL the vitamins working! Used to be able to get frozen blackcurrants (more antioxident than blueberries!) frozen by fullers foods but can't find them anymore....all this is SO CHEAP compared to bought smoothies!

At ALDI its 49p for 5 nectarines (leave to ripen on side for 2 days max then fridge otherwise too soft)...49p for a big punnet of seedless white grapes, 49 p A KILO for banannas!
