Another AFD here too YM, so that's 6 so far. I had to drink a fair few cups of tea befor ethe bells stopped ringing and funnily enough watching the football helped because I decided to go to bed after the first couple of goals!!

So feeling good today which is just as well because I have a really busy day again.

    HAve fun

    Morning all,

I have decided that I love feeling exhausted waking up, I also absolutely love being feeling exhausted like I did last night from the moment I walked in the door till I went to bed, was laying on DD2's bed reading her a story at 7.30pm last night and could've quite happily stayed there the night! My body is tired! I never feel this sensation as I'm usually drinking, How great to feel tired because I am actually tired rather than after a drink induced bad sleep :T

RA, thanks for the post, I have been to a couple of AA meetings previously and always thought of my HP as my dad, even though I am a Christian. I just imagine how disappointed and worried my dad would be if he could see me now. Hopefully he's watching and egging on this time :)

    Gotta go work, speak later!!

Well done to all those that achieved what they wanted last night. For those that didn't, remember the reasons you are trying to do this.

    AA Step 2

"Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity"

    .

Oh eck, AA Step 2. I can't get my head around Step 2 yet. I'm actually struggling with Step 1, so I haven't moved on to Step 2!!

Step 1 is admitting I am powerless over alcohol and that my life has become unmanageable. I've nooooo problem about admitting the unmanageable life bit, but I haven't quite surrendered to the notion that alcohol has total and complete power over me. I really want to stop drinking. I know that I could slip back into my almost daily binge attacks in a nanosecond, but in the midst of all my sensible thoughts and resolve to beat this demon, when I really really think about how I am feeling deep down inside me, I know that I still secretly think that I can control my drinking. That I still have some power over alcohol. So that's why I've not got Step 1 down yet.

Step 2 is pertinent as my AA meeting last night was about Step 2. I was not ashamed to admit to everyone that I don't understand what this Step is about!! Do I choose a higher power? Does it choose me? How I can make myself believe? All very mind boggling at the moment

Don't worry folks, the AA Steps are only suggestions, not commands, but I want to adopt and follow this program to recovery, so it's important I keep at it. A higher power doesn't need to be religious, I've been told it can be friends, family, AA meetings, a God of some sort of course, even a table leg if it helps! So I've not joined a freaky religious cult :p (although some would beg to differ, I know that).

Anyway, I was AF yesterday, so please add one more AFD to my total YM.

I'm awfully good at these tome-like posts aren't I? Sorry folks! I doubt I'll change - soap box Smazza, eh....... :D

Good luck to everyone for another AFD and well done to everyone for trying so hard and being so splendid! :T

    Hugs

  • Morning all!

69chick - good to hear from you! Hope you had nice holiday!

YM - commiserations on car problems. I hate it when they go wrong...leave it to OH to do the oil and water thing so hope he remembers!! By the way, I'm still on same as yesterday (whatever that was) as had couple glasses of wine last night :o

Jo - Perhaps the dream was what you needed? I think there must be some sort of HP out there. Lets hope it keeps those bells quiet for you.

Had nice, if tiring, day with Mum yesterday. Piglet seemed overtired and tearful by bed-time and didn't sleep well. My Dad turned up at lunchtime and they tend to wear each other out so I think thats what did it. Mum said Dad was exhausted by the evening and fell asleep during the football (never been heard of!)

So we are having a quiet morning this morning before he goes to nursery this afternoon.

Hopefully no bells for me tonight. Had them every night this week - sometimes I've listened to them, sometimes I haven't. Don't feel bad about it though as I've been moderate.

    Miss P
