Good morning everyone :hello:
I actually woke up this moring without feeling groggy - yay! Not sure if this is just because my body is adjusting to sleep without alcohol or that I did a long run last night - the weather here was lovely. Would love to hear from anyone who is also going through the groggy stage as to how long
it is lasting etc...
So, YM, that's 8 for me so far
DC - I hope you've got over the shock and that DS is recovering well
Have a good day everyone
7-14 days normally - your brain is much more in tune with your body (as it doesn't have all these mixed alcoholic messages screwing things up) so your body is telling you it is knackered, and for the first time you are able to listen to it.
I used to have a drink when tired (instead of going straight to bed) and sometimes (often!) have a beer when thirsty (when I needed water) - thus I wasn't listening to what my body needed. So when I stopped drinking, I felt physically poorly for a week or two.
It is a good sign - as it signifies you being AF :T0 -
I tend to feel rubbish for about 10 days or so and then start feeling the benefits. After a few weeks of being AF though i do have the occassional dreams where i'm drinking alcohol and i wake up feeling really disppointed with myself!

Actually feel happy to do the driving and stick to Lime and Soda.
Well done Grey Pilgrim!! That's a great start and good incentive to keep on going...
I read somewhere once (and this really helped me - maybe be of use to you too) "Good food is not going to suddenly disappear tomorrow - you have your whole life to enjoy it!"
Your comment about lime and soda reminded me... what on earth to drink when going out socially? I dont really like cola so maybe lime and soda is the way to go...Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Morning All!
CAZ - Thanks for your post - it was really inspirational - I know what you mean about breaking the drinking patterns - I rarely touch the "hard stuff" but would routinely sit down when the kids had gone to bed and have 4 or 5 Stellas before my evening meal - now I don't do this in the week, but allow myself a drink at weekends and I feel more in control, wealthier (see my signature), happier and healthier (I've lost 6lbs in September so far, just from cutting out the "in the week" drinking):j:j:j
5 AFDs for me please YM:j
If I manage it (and I don't see why not) - this will be the first time for years that I'll have remained AF for 4 days in a row (Mon to Thurs this week) - Even though the England football match is on tonight, I'm determined not to have a drink (football used to be my favourite excuse for having a drink in the week - not any more:D)
Well done everyone!!:T:TAmount saved by cutting down on  since 24/08/2009....... :j£81.78:j0 -

I've noticed that when I've had a few beers, I'll naturally gravitate to the fridge and bring back something to snack on as well.
So as well as all the beer - related calories, there's the associated snack calories too...plus the frequent hangover curing fried breakfasts, weekend pizzas, etc etc etc...
I have my sights set firmly on 16 stone...0 -
Morning all
Good scores coming in and we are just over the 25% mark on collective target days for the month :T
Going to be one of those days today  Valerie is not very well. Valerie is my Volvo and sitting outside the school gates this morning she got a bit hot and burst her radiator . Got the recovery to come and look at it and he said it was down to lack of maintanance. Whats that all about does the oil and water not stay with the car for its whole life
Anyway at the garage ATM and am waiting to see how much to repair or even if it is worth repairing...Old car ( 1998 ) but has been very reliable. Wait and see I suppose.
Happy birthday by the way to FH DS2 :T0 -

Blimey, me too! When hungover I would have a pasty for breakfast (yikes!) and love nuts/snacks/cheesey things with wine, so imagine all the calories we are saving, let alone, as you say, all the calories just in the drink!
I do find I'm a bit hungrier overall so am bringing another snack/fruit to work every day but think that's still got to be way less than The Old Way.
Just think of all the good we are doing to our bodies after years of neglect. Amazing..Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

Not the beer with me but wine with the same junk food associations. The thing is I really enjoy my walk to the fridge and like nothing better than tucking into crisps, dips and my glass of wine of an evening
But it has to stop because the pounds are piling on and when will it ever stop if I don't make a start now.
I've dowloaded a healthy menu plan from Mr T and have already made a start. My usual lunch is a sandwich or tortilla wrap with full fat fillings, packet of crisps and chocolate. Before that I have already made a dent in a packet of biscuits
Today I have a healthy tuna and cucumber sandwich, an apple and a couple of mini ryvita
I had porridge for breakfast, so I haven't felt the need to snack so far this morning. But have a banana if I feel peckish.
Tonight we are having a chicken stir fry with loads of vegetables and a small portion of noodles for me.
Much love XNeed to start again0 -

Mrsdee~that's exactly my state of mind at the moment too. It's shocking what I've been consuming  I would often have a packet of salt & vinegar hula hoops on my way to work to help with a hangoverNeed to start again0 -

This is great news! I usually hole myself up in the kitchen or the bathroom and drink to oblivion when footies on, tonight I shall curl up in the chair in the same room as the footie and read my book :T:Tyellowmonkey wrote: »Valerie is not very well.
