Women in their 40s are drinking far more alcohol than previous generations and regularly turn to a glass of wine to help them cope with the stress of modern life.
According to a survey, half of middle-aged women believe they drink more than their mothers did at their age and some are so worried about the amount they drink they are constantly trying to cut down.

It seems that some days you just keep going then you turn a corner and things take a turn for the better...you keep going...and the same happens...and now I can see daylight.....
Don't recall if ever I explained where my name came from.....it was the name of the battleship that was in a really bad way but refused to be sunk....I liked the idea of "unsinkable" so stuck with that.
A while ago I'd had a bad night's sleep and was at work and must have been seeming less than 100% through tiredness when someone made a comment - and I was delighted to be able to look the person right in the eye and be completely innocent of a hangover. If you've ever been there, you'll know how it feels when you can't take a sickie but feel like death until about mid-afternoon.
Very thought provoking indeed and thoughtful
I always thought of your name as strong and strong in character and willpowerAnd yet, in 2007, I had really had enough and got myself into a truly horrible corner...drink seemed like my only friend....and yet it never really helped.
Live the life you want to have...all the best....
It was my friend in late 07 - Nov 08 about 12mths in total. No longer feel about alcohol in this way at all. The occasional drinker I am now. The only infrequent feeling I get towards it now, bit fed up - shall I have a glass of wine. No. Have some squash and quench my thirst then see how I feel. Better no alcohol, no longer interested in having a drink.
No better words could be spoken - Live the life you want to have. you cant stand cooking OMG!!!!!! I love it -
I love cooking and all that other domestic stuff - I am a 1950's throw back I think love the housewifey stuff. I even own a few pinnies (aprons) - sad sad confessions on the tinternet - thank goodness you don't all know me. Mind you if you'd met me you'd seen me pinnies already
Ooh snap! I am quite similar to this too!

Just popped in as saw your post Budgie.....Lots of hugs Honey. Its a tough time but don`t beat yourself up over the drink....when you are ready, get that kettle on , make yourself a cuppa & try & get a nights sleep.
I know what you mean about papering over the cracks....think thats why I got into debt tbh....sometimes you have to get that scraper out & take off all the wallpaper & then see whats left. Sadly in my case that was`nt very much.
Hope you are OK Hun. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:0 -

2nd night AF for me Yellow Monkey please.
I have just been trying to distract myself all day today and I have done quite a bit of cleaning so that's a bonus. I'm not feeling too bad really anyway.
I just take these days where I don't feel like drinking where I can get them because some days it seems like I have no control over myself. Of course I know I do.:o
I didn't get any money out yesterday so if I wanted to get any drink I would have to walk quite a bit to a cash point! Obviously I'm too lazy to do that.:D;)
My DH is out tonight as well so I can't wheedle him into bringing me any drink back home for me either.
I hope everyone is okay tonight.:A
(Sorry about your news Jo.)
I used to think that, but then after I realised I was alcoholic I know I DIDN'T have any control over myself when it came to alcohol. That's a wake up call for all people who admit they are alcoholic. They are powerless over alcohol.
If one has power over it, one can stop. If one cannot stop, then one is powerless, and most likely alcoholic.
Experience wasn't enough - in fact the more and longer I drank the less power I had over alcohol. My drinking got worse, not better.0
