Haven't managed to have an AF day at all this week.:o Its more boredom with me than anything else. Im going to try and get on with some knitting tonight and stay off the booze. My brother and his wife have had a baby and Im knitting him a little jumper.

jo1972, hope you're not feeling too fed up. Have a good day!:hello:
  • Hi all,

YM please put me down for another AFD, so that's 2/27. I've got my figures right this time!

My first AA step meeting last night was fabbo. I don't know if I'm supposed to enjoy myself quite so much, but I did! Nearly didn't get there if I'm honest. Not knowing where on earth I am going or where I can park is becoming a ritual now, as I've been to 5 meetings, in 4 different venues!

The weather last night was horrendous, windy and torrential rain. I parked in totally the wrong place, walked for ages to find the venue, then discovered there was a car park much closer, so in my wisdom I walked all the way back, got my car and re-parked (I didn't fancy a long walk back to the car on my own in the dark after the meeting you see). So I was a few mins late for the meeting, out of breath and soaking wet!

But the meeting was great - everyone very welcoming as usual. The chap who was doing the main share was incredible, he's been clean and sober for over 9 years. His story was heartbreaking but he came out the other side, not without a good deal of bumps and failures along the way, but that's alcohol's way isn't it - we all know how much it affects us and how it fights against our wishes to stop drinking.

OOOHHH, what an epic, sorry folks, how bored you must be! I keep banging on about AA don't I. It's because I feel inspired and I don't feel lost any more. I have support, program for recovery and goals. I feel like a burden has been lifted already. It's good to feel that I have a choice to recover. I felt like it was an impossible task, less than a month ago.

Well done to everyone who was AF yesterday too.

And well done to Miss P on more weight loss! :T I scoffed a large chicken kebab last night, so I won't be dropping the poundage any time soon..............:p

Hugs to all. Have a lovely day and good luck staying AF.

  • Morning,

Cazza - the AA meetings sound really positive and fantastic support. Glad you're getting on so well.

Jo - hope 1st day back flies in, almost the weekend.

Feeling a lot better mentally for cutting right back, but when does the sparkly eyes/skin etc kick in? Looking more pale and tired than ever, despite sleeping well. Or am I just beyond the point of a youthful glow being realistic? :o.

Name's a bit misleading really - if you see a new member called glasgowmaturelady you'll know who it is ;)

Did I read that right?? In our school there's 120 in each year

I can't imagine that AT ALL! There are about 80 in the school but for some reason DD's year has always stayed the same number all the way through from reception although kids have left & joined in the other years. She's in for a shock next year!
Been up and down again... WB the comb is called the nitty gritty nitfree comb and there is a website with a similar name... not sure if i'm allowed to post website details.. so if you google the above i'm sure it will appear...!!

    ......

Oh thanks T2GU - I'll be straight on there after here!

    And......mornin' all!

GG, (GML) know what you mean, I feel so groggy when I get up (OK I know it's only been 2 mornings...) & I've got bags under my eyes that I'm sure aren't there usually.

Hi Jo..work, the curse of the drinking classes eh? Oops, forgot, we're not now are we?

omg all of a sudden my head keeps itching :eek::eek: pleeeeze no I hope it's psychosomatic at the sight of the word n**s.

BeachB - I remember trying to knit same for DD before she was born but it was too difficult; I had to turn it into a cot blanket :o:D . I'd like to take knitting up again (though I have so many scarves already :rotfl:) but not sure my eyesight's up to it now! I'd have to have all the overhead spotlights on instead of my candles can't afford the elec. Must look into those blanket squares for charity if they still do them

Caz glad the meetings are working so well for you.

Miss P the time of your first post  I was still snoring
