Budgie - you've done so fantastically well in stopping drinking for 6 months, and think how much money you'll have saved. So you've had a little lapse this month, but were AF again yesterday - well done. I think we'll all go through different phases in our stopping/cutting down, but we just need to be able to get back onto that wagon when we realise we've gone too far. Easier said than done obviously, but this thread is helping so many of us - especially your long personal messages - just knowing there are friendly voices out there helps enormously. Congratulations on your 6 months.

    Good morning all!

Busy morning for me here - OH putting a new exhaust on his car and I had my spring cleaning head on. Piglet just went around creating more mess and havoc!

Budgie - please don't beat yourself up over this. You've been through a lot lately and somethings got to give. And anyway, those WW crisps are nothing but fresh air!;) As the others have said, 6 months is a fantastic amount of time to be AF.

40SM - I hate the hygienist too. The "other" is just as bad. I keep putting it off until the nurse really tells me off! She points out that I've given birth so shouldn't be worried by these things. I point out I was under the influence of drugs whilst giving birth!!!:rotfl: A marching band could have paraded through the room and I wouldn't have batted an eyelid! Sorry people...shall change the subject!

This afternoon we are off for a little trip round the shops. Nothing exciting to be bought (unless you count a postman pat toy for piglet!). Have my cleaning head on so want some cleaning gumph. We made the mistake of telling Piglet he's going swimming tomorrow and he's now wandering everywhere trailing his towel and swim shorts! Now THATS going to look funny in Walmart! Later on may go down to my Mums - she lives quite near Fairford so can get some free sightings of the displays at the Air Tattoo!!

Anyway, hope everyone is having good weekends.

    Miss P

I left my last one so late that I received a final warning letter from my doctor ... saying either let him know why not responding to letters or I would be removed from his list of patients.... so I quickly made an appointment . I have had 3 children but the dreaded smear STILL puts the fear of death in me:rotfl:

    Piglet sounds soooo adorable.

    Have a lovely weekend.

BTW you are doing brilliantly . Give yourself a pat on the back:T:T

    Hi Guys, :hello:

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their weekend?

Well I have had a lovely day with a bottle of: Savlon disinfectant :rotfl: Life in the fast lane I know ;).

But I am determined to get back on track so I have kept myself busy, cleaning, throwing out some old clothes etc. Also a trip to the gym to boot as well. Just a sec, my halo needs adjusting :rotfl:Seriously though I have slipped a bit, so I deffo need to refocus.

So as I plan to visit my Darling, Darling Son in August I shall endeavour to be af and fit and well.

So my Darling Jo I am on 9af days please. I hope all is well with you sweetheart and that your computer probs are sorted. How is everything? How are your Dear Children, I loved the pic of DD2 at her football training. Bless she truly is an :A Just like her lovely Mum then ;) Big hugs and lots of love. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ym hugs and as Miss Piggy says we can sleep at night now without having any bad dreams  though I still like the lovely, cuddly one. Perhaps he will make a return one day? Can I just add with the other Avvies, they should carry a warning at the end: "DON'T HAVE NIGHTMARES . Well done on clocking up these af days :T I have to say though I found it much easier not drinking at all. Once you let alcohol back in, it soon wants to stay and !!!!!! things up for you. Hey ho we live and learn, do we not? Big hugs matey and lots of love. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Maman :T You so, so deserve a round of applause, way to go you. Hot Ribena is definitely the way to go, but how proud of you we all are too, you have done fantastic last night and it should give you motivation that: YES I CAN DO THIS :T So please remember last night and what you achieved, you have proved that it is possible and so you will be able to do it again. I AM CHUFFED TO LITTLE MINT BALLS :A Big hugs and lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

40sm ((())) hugs sweetheart and thankyou for making me laugh, when you said my post made you giggle. My Chakras have not been balanced at all, but I am back on track now. ;) As for the S word, I totally know what you mean, though thankfully I have always been able to have it done at the doctors. I think my fear is because I was only 21 when I had my Ds and whilst I was pregnant, the doc gave me one then. (Back in the day you didin't question, but it was not nice and it has not sat right with me since) Sorry too much information, (We could start another thread, I am sure it would be very popular) :rotfl:But thanks for making me smile, you are fab and I hope you pick up soon sweetheart. Lots of love and Hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

AvaNother Hugs ((())) and thankyou for your message sweetheart, it means alot :A I am hopefully on the right road now and leaving the rocky road behind. As I have said to Dear Ym it was easier not drinking at all, it seems once you have some, you want some more. I shall try and be good the rest of the month now and just have a tiny amount in August. We shall see, but thankyou again and wishing you all the best in your af journey too. Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Miss Piggy I have to say that you are: JUST SO ADORABLE :A I had a lovely picture of Dearest Piglet walking around with his swimming trunks and towel :rotfl:Have wonderful and how you must cherish these days, they pass so quickly you know. Hi Budgie :hello:..... Ok here ;), thanks for asking

Well apart from the fact that we are looking after our neighbours parrot ..... Any one know any recipes for parrot stew ?:D Quite funny most of the time, but every now and then a screech sounds out that nearly shatters your teeth !

I wouldn't mind but, I keep getting up to answer the phone or the doorbell, only to find that the phones not ringing, and then I remember we haven't got a doorbell! :rotfl:. I have to say - he is a very good mimic. And when one of the dogs bark ... he says 'Stupid Dog' :rotfl::rotfl:. So all in all, quite entertaining, but also a bit stress inducing when he is in screechy mood !

My Father - in -law doesn't look good I'm afraid, we have cancelled our holiday next week. Will have to wait and see what happens after his biopsy on Monday. Though the doctors are indicating that Cancer of the Lymphatic System ...(lymphoma ??) is the best outlook. Mrs BHB is still a bit numb and very emotional.

Alcohol wise - not doing well. My delivery of AF fizz and beer from the Alcoholfree shop arrived when we were out yesterday and they took it away again. That was to be my new start, but it won't be here again until the new delivery slot on Monday. Its weak I know, but am leaving it until Monday before I start proper agian, as I know having the the 'prop' will help me through not having any alcohol. .... fingers crossed.
Molly .... I might need a shove on Monday ;) so get that whip out then :D

Anyway - the pool is refilled after a change of water and will be up to a reasonable temperature in a couple of days - so holiday at home starts soon :D. Day trips are the order of the week :j

    Best wishes
    Hope everyone is OK

Hi everyone! Good to see this is still going strong - on to part 4 now!

I was wondering if I could ask for some moral support and motivation from you all. As part of the alcohol cutback, Lardloss went well towards the start of the year - got down from an all time high of 21 stone, to about 17 stone 7 pounds, but then let it creep back up to 19 stone (doh!). Beer crept back into my life (albeit in a much more controlled fashion, as did the lack of discipline with food.)

I'm not going to make promises about quitting alcohol anymore, but I want to be in control, and I think I am. I'm trying to balance out the approach of "quitting this and this and this and this..." with actually doing something positive --> actually DOING something new and beneficial, rather than just NOT doing something that is 'bad' - does that make sense?

    ..

    ..

I bought a bike. I've not had one for almost 20 years ( I got hit by a car on my last one and broke my leg so it kind of put me off). But now I've bought one....

    I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT

It is the single best thing I've done in years. I go everywhere in it. I'm slowly increasing the distances I go and last weekend I managed a 12 mile journey to macclesfield, then had a cup of tea with my nan, then biked it back again WITHOUT PASSING OUT!!!

I can't express how enjoyable it is. I've mentioned before that I do a bit of indoor climbing - I've even started biking it to the climbing centre with all my kit - harness, shoes, water, 60 metre rope (about 6 miles there in total), climbing for a couple of hours, then biking back again.

I love it so much that the weather has become irrelevant - last week the heavens opened while I was on the way home and I got soaked. Bit unpleasant for the first few minutes, but once I was soaked through, I suddenly felt the way a kid does when he realises how much fun it is to splash in puddles -you think "I'm wet through, but I'm having a blast and I don't give a ***!!!"

So as a bit of a motivational goal, I've signed up for the Manchester 100km Cycle Ride on September 6th

    http://www.bike-events.com/Ride.aspx?id=208

Please be aware this isn't a covert request for sponsorship - I'm not actually doing it for charity, it's just for me (But maybe next year I'll have the begging bowl out).

All I'm asking for is a bit of a push, and a bit of motivation. I don't want to start another diary on MSE so I've restarted the Lardloss Blog. There's also details on there of my climbing progress (which is coming along a treat now that I've hooked up with a training partner who REALLY knows how to push me)

Hope you enjoy reading it. Please push my though. I'm having a bit of a crisis of confidence after realising just how far 100 km (60 miles!!!!!) actually 'is;.

:hello: Thanks for all the good wishes. I'm still on 9AF but have been quite good today. A small glass at a dinner/party tonight and a couple when I got home. That's about a bottle and a half less than usual weekend drinking so far. Got a lovely roast planned for tomorrow so definitely wine with that but back on AF wagon Monday.

Budgie, I love your thoughtful posts (don't we all :T) and I'm sure you're slowly getting back to your usual self after your horrible experience. But I must recommend Ribena as an alternative, please keep off the Savlon ;)

BHB, I must admit I said 'Oh No!' out loud when I read that your AF delivery had gone away again. Lots going wrong at the moment for you and your dear wife. I know some won't agree but I don't blame you using props to cope with FIL's illness, missing out on holiday, coping with parrot, cold pool etc. If it was me I would drink moderately during your 'holiday' and then work on an AF plan for when it's over. But then I'm a cutter-down and can get away with such an outrageous suggestion.

Mollypolly, your holiday sounds great. I really want a UK holiday. I've never been to Scotland (I know you're not quite there) and I would really love to but this time of the year the lure of overseas sun always tips it for me. Good luck with your dongle.

GP, I so understand how your new enthusiasm for your bike and climbing is helping in all sorts of ways. I remember when the lardloss got you into slimline wedding finery a while ago. I looked at your blog and I think you're right to look at a moderation plan rather than say 'I'm giving up everything'. IMHO your more likely to stick with it but as I 'speak' I know some won't agree.

Goodnight all :A including those of you who are so busy partying, holidaying or sleeping to post at the moment!!

    Hi Mollypolly

I used to holiday at Berwick on Tweed when I was a child. I LOVED it . I have also been to Lindisfarne on a school trip and also really enjoyed it there.

Hope you have a lovely week.
