I didn't have the shakes or anything but your body is still going through some changes, not having the alcohol and sugars and chemical changes via alcohol it has got used to. Also, I got some invaluable advice from Graeme, who said that when we drink, we lose awareness of how our body is actually feeling, so when we stop drinking and start to "feel" our bodies again and what our bodies are telling us, it hurts!!
I felt exhausted all the time, I got headaches, I was emotional and very teary and irritable, for the first few days I admit it was pretty awful, but I am coming out the other side now and I'm on my 10th AFD today and I feel 100% better.
Not fantastic yet, but soooo much better. It's nice to actually be able to listen to my body for a change, rather than ignoring it and masking what it was trying to tell me with booze.
So try to stick with it. Keep your sugar levels up. Keep hydrated. Eat well. It's definitely worth it.
Hugs,
Caz

Would have been around here sooner, but found myself on Facebook once the boys were in bed. It's so lovely catching up with people. I have friends dotted around the whole country and family in the US. They've all found me and are chatting away. Keeps me away from the wine because I get so pre-occupied with it.
PS: (whispering to Miss P...I've done 4 AF not 3 and I'm on my 5th) Thank you X
HI FH
I have only recently joined facebook ( I am a late developer at these sort of things) and whilst I have had a few friend requests from current and old good friends .... I have had lots and lots from people who I vaguely know .... and looking at the things that they post ... I don't particularly want to be their friends:o:o:o:o . Does that sound bad ??? But most of these people I do not know ... By Looking at the pictures you would think I was out partying every night . I can't remember the last party I was at :rotfl: May have been pre-millenium.... no kid .... DS1 is a millenium baby:rotfl::rotfl::o0 -
Budgie, If you are lurking ... I am thinking of you . I am sorry I did not reply to you last night ... but your reply made me very emotional.... I cannot post when I am like that . We are a right soppy pair aren't we?
Happy times are on their way for you. I just know it;)
Night , Night everyone.
Catch you tomorrow.

Waves to Fay.
I have checked out the rules for my SSSI beach and sadly scary sea monsters are banned. Sorry.
This thread ran confession time a few weeks ago and nicking plants is at the very bottom of the bad things that I have done.RA question for you as I forget did you do the AA route?

hi all,
touch & go tonight - hubby came home from work & as it was sunny suggested going for a nice walk & beer... then had a (nother) blazing row so we didnt. then we made up & he offered to make me a drink - what did i want? ice cold white wine... he said we have red? i said no, i will stick to my water.
anyhow... what are side effects of stopping drinking? have been searching the net - have been a moody cow, but then TOTM so expected... last night i woke up saturated with sweat, which used to be a normal nightly occurrence til we twigged the duck down duvet was too hot...
reading that this can be a withdrawal symptom, along with stroppiness... is there anything else i should be on the lookout for?
and i'm wondering, does alcohol addiction work like cigarette addiction? when i gave up smoking, i read a book which helped lots, and it explained that when the drug was in your system, it made you crave more... so the more you smoked the more you needed to... is it the same with alcohol?
anyhow i am in bed on the laptop, hubby watching the football, & i need sleep... fingers crossed tomo i wake up sweat free & raring to run....
night all

8AF please Miss P.
I'm off to bed early, hoping to sleep. Enjoyed the sun today (thanks 115K).
YM I think your new avvie looks just like a teletubby (Lala?) and I seem to remember they were gender free!
'night all.
PS. Well done Wobbledoos on another AF night! I think your symptoms are pretty normal, not being able to sleep is another. There are giving up alcohol books that some people can tell you about (not read them myself).0 -
Hi everyone, another bad night sleep wise after too much booze last night. I should say something funny about learning from my mistakes here. Or profound. But I'm not awake enough. Still 7/8 for me Miss P.
Hi Jo, thanks for asking. The job is going fine. I've been promoted to manage the team and it's a permanent one now. When I joined it was just for a few weeks. The extra money is a tiny amount and I've got loads more headaches as the manager. The team are good and hey, it's a job. I miss the simplicity of being a team member though. And all that time to waste on here when I was unemployed. I think I would do much more useful stuff with lots of time if I had it again now.
Welcome back to Nessa, sorry to hear you've been having a tough time finding a seat on the wagon. Good luck for the rest of August.
Mum of Boys, your comment about being naughty really chimed with me. Can we have a MoB thought for the day from time to time as that was a very thought provoking one. You did brilliantly putting the cork back in after taking out what you needed for cooking - Well done. Iron self control that, I'm impressed!! 40SM thanks for the tip about freezing it in ice trays.
A huge well done to gromit for the first AF day in 5 years. Yay!!!!!!!!!
:T:T :T:T:T Go girl!!
Wobbledoos, I find the main side effect of not drinking is better sleep!!! I think the restless bells feeling is a symptom for me and I did notice my skin was more tingly/itchy. GC said that we are more aware of the sensations in our body which makes sense. After 3 days the booze has apparently got through the system. Thanks to whoever on here told me that.
Sam and Cheryl it's not the quality of your joke that counts, just the fact you wanted to share a laugh on here. Plus we've had some real bad jokes over the weeks on here so the bar is a pretty low one! Apologies for the use of the b word a second time today.
YM, please would you put me down for 12 in September. Thanks!!!!!!!
Right, gotta go now as I'm running low on exclamation marks and need to recharge.0 -
...snowy, I'm curious who's going to be checking your receipts. Is this someone trying to help you cut down or are you being very OS as a family and trying to cheat?
), and anything non-essential is off-limits for mid-week shopping. And wine is, in everyone else's opinion, distinctly non-essential (I'd have stashed it until Mrs Malone is on nights and the kids are out or in bed.) Also, I used to (openly) buy a couple of four packs of beer or cider at the weekend, and spread them out through the week (a can or two a night), but would then supplement it with additional stuff I had hidden in the shed, nipping out to have a slug of cheap scotch. Funnily enough though, until you posed the question, I had never thought of smuggling booze into the house and then drinking it on the sly as at all iffy. I preferred to think of it as a bit roguish and cheeky. Denial, innit? It's a BIG danger signal, and I suspect lots of us on here have been in denial about being in denial, let alone being in denial about the sauce before.
Anyway, another AF night last night. Have stopped pacing so much, feeling more focussed, but I'm still sleeping quite badly.Proud to be dealing with my debtsDMP Mutual Support Thread member 337
