Monday was an alcohol free day
Tuesday - 2 beers, one GLASS of wine, not a bottle, just a glass ... whit-woo!
Like all revolutions, guerrilla goodness begins slowly, with a single act. Let it be yours.

Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty.

And why on earth is it so hard to give up - I am a monster at the moment - really - wild eyes, hair like a sea monster (well thats normal) and I am so grumpy and just cross with everything.

    I know its addictive - but - :mad::mad:

I know for me I drank to escape life. It was life I had a problem with, so that's why I drank. It gave me a temporary reprieve.
However, the booze stopped working, so I stopped drinking. Life's problems are still there though.
Thus I replaced the hole in my soul with something else. Now I no longer crave a drink - I don't have to distract myself as I no longer have the urge to pick up.

The key for me (as it is for nearly all addicts) is acceptance
I had to accept I was powerless over alcohol, and my life was unmanageable.
Thus it was a relief admitting I was an alcoholic (I was in denial for years) , then I could get on with recovering.

The majority of people who don't recover are the ones that fight it, as opposed to surrendering to it.
This is true with alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc

If one says to oneself 'I am an alcoholic who is beaten by this illness and I will do anything to get help' , then the chances of recovery are much improved.
If one denies the addiction and the fact of being an alcoholic, then chances are pretty slim.

    Morning all

Wise words from GC to start our day.

Fay - I'm grumpy too. But not irrationally grumpy like I would be after a bottle of wine. When drunk I could argue / grump over anything (and frequently did). I figure its better to be naturally grumpy than drunkenly grumpy??:rotfl:

AND I'm naturally grumpy and getting FATTER too!! Fay, you know those muffins I mentioned? I had one for breakfast!! Its really got to stop. I know some say its not good to diet AND try and give up alcohol at the same time, but I feel I have to do it. Before I'm the same size as my MIL (and trust me....thats BIG!:rotfl:). So I've rejoined a dieting website that helped me lose 4 stone after I had Piglet. Can't start today as Mum has bought us a big pasta bake for tonight:rolleyes: so will probably start tomorrow.

Gromit - hope the interview goes ok. I hate interviews with a passion. I remember the one for my current job. It was touch and go whether I could be bothered to go for it and I must admit to having a bit of a flippant attitude during the interview (I WAS only 24, in my defence!!). Got the job and been there 11 years now!! Apparently they were very impressed with me!:rotfl:(standards were low at the time :rotfl:)

Anyway, better get on. Piglet has a speech therapy appointment today. First one since his little group finished about 4 months ago. Quick movers the NHS.....

    Have good mornings all!

    Miss P
    xx

  • Hi

Firstly Good Luck Gromit! I'll be sending positive vibes to you at 10:30 :D

It's somewhat comforting to read that you are all struggling much the same as I am. Well done BB for going to the doctor. I wonder about the tingling sensation in my shoulder blades. Sounds odd I know, but I'm sure I read somewhere that the shoulder area is somehow connected to the liver

I'm feeling okay today but tired. DS1 called for me through the night and asked me to "cuddle his feet" !!!!!!???? I said "No not right now, it's 2am" :rotfl:Then a half hour later DS2 called me through for a kiss. A little bit more acceptable but not at 2:30am!

I took an age to fall asleep and then the bloomin' seagulls woke me at 5am. I wouldn't normally hear them but I was obviously in a light sleep. So my drive to work was a little scary because I felt so sleepy. I've had two cups of coffee now so feel a bit perkier :D

Off to catch up when I should actually be working.....

    Much love X
    Need to start again :o
  • Morning all, wow that took ages to catch up on!

Gromit - Good luck for the interview!

Miss P - Can you put me down for 9 AFD please? Managed to get through last night easily enough. (Finished 2-0 to Arsenal so your dad shouldn't be too grumpy!)

MOB - I was actually quite impressed by Celtic, very unlucky with both goals.

Eye Opener - Sorry, couldn't resist! I know alot of Man Utd fans that were born much closer to London and thoroughly enjoy ribbing them!

Have a good day today everyone. Lets aim for an AF Wednesday from all those that are up for the challenge!
