Thanks honeybear - hope whatever you have to deal with tomorrow goes as well and smoothly as possible.

Enjoy your milky drirnk and read. I find reading does help take my mind off things.

Can someone explain what you guys mean when you ask Miss P to put you down for AFDays?
  • Hey Gromit,

As part of the challenge many people (not everyone) make a commitment to have a certain number of days AF (alcohol free) over the course of the month. Some people don't count days - it's a bit of trial and error really, whatever works best for you.

Every month a different person (aka superstar - from the sterling efforts this year!!) keeps track of everyone's progress against their target. That's what's shown on the 'score board' list you'll see every so often.

To be honest I am not in such a great place through one thing and another? But today I have been doing a baby hamper for my cousin's son, he and his wife have had a lovely baby son.

Thing is I have been out shoppping to put things together for this hamper, tonight I am in floods of tears.

You see his brother was born 5 days after my Ds who was premature, they grew up together in the early years and we lost touch at around aged 10 due to my cousin seperating from their father. Though until then we had always done things together. (Camping etc)

Cue two years ago and the absolute worse day of my life, my lovely cousins son went to Iraq and the worse thing ever he got shot and killed. We went to his funeral, and on the same morning my father got a call from the local hospital that he must attend that day at their clinic, so it came to pass that straight form the graveside we all went to the hospital to be told that my father had bowel cancer and that immediate surgery was necessary.

How do you cope with these things? Goodness only knows. Many of you know how much my DS means to me? But I do thank God that I have him and that my life is blessed. I cherish the ones I love and you should too................................

Sorry if I have been a bit deep, but I have so much on my mind at the moment, I feel an emotional Budgie B,but that is me............................

    God Bless
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Cherish the ones you love and travel back on the road that brings you home :)

I found the counting days didn't really work for me - used it as an excuse to drink too much of the 'allowed' days. But it works well for others. Like you say though, one day at a time for now.

Hope you manage to get some kip tonight. Feeling excited for you tomorrow - perversely I actually enjoy interviews!

A wee bit of stress/nerves is supposed to be a good thing too - the adrenelin is supposed to help you perform better. Good not to suppress it with booze.

Thanks GG. Interview at 10.30am. I had such a good feeling when I applied for it, I went over and over my covering email / letter and was well pleased. For once it just seem to flow and I was able to tailor it to suit the job advert real well. So well infact that i got an email back the same day inviting me for interview. Lets just hope I can find that same confidence tomorrow!xx
  • BB - what a tragedy for a young man to lose his life. A new life is such a joyful event but it's only natural that this is tinged with the memory of what has been lost. Particularly as that day also brought devastating news about your father.

You are going through such a testing time - thinking of you and glad that you'll have time with your DS very soon.
