Ah, now this gets interesting. I would love to find out how many "they" were and what their offices were like. According to my information, this was just a front-end and the real operation was elsewhere, in a much more affordable, but less reputable location.0

Well, that's what I thought when they starting demanding fees up front so I had searches done and phoned other companies in this building. I've had it confirmed that they were in their by three other companies on that floor.
The only thing I will say is that this is a regus office building and therefore they can rent it by the hour, albeit this would be expensive, not an uncommon thing though.0 -
At least we might be able to get some face-to-face witnesses.
Still puzzles me who is / was sitting at the other address in
Church Walk
Crawley, RH10 1HH
Perhaps we should go and have a look?
There is another one round the corner, as far as I know.0 -
I've never seen this address. Where did you find this?0

The trail goes even further. But as I said, I cannot discuss everything in this open forum.0

I feel so sick to my stomach at the minute_pale_ I was talked into using this company by my wife, well nagged to death till I agreed, despite my saying to her it was a scam from the first time she mentioned having to pay up front... I can normally spot a scam a mile away, and I hope everyone who has found this thread a laugh so far has enjoyed everyones misery!!!
I just did a who is on their website to try to uncover some details, whats listed is as follows.
first direct uk
john turner
43A ALBERT ROAD
EPSOM
SURREY,KT17 4EQ
GB
Tel. +44.1372739072
As you may have guessed the number if you dial it, fails.
I am simply livid with my wife, and myself for not checking into this first, but we were desparate for a quick sale, I however insisted that she at least make the payment(s) with a credit card, and a word of note to anyone else who has, if your credit card company refuses in anyway to pay you back, then quote the following:
Consumer Credit Act And Your Rights:
Credit Cards – Section 75
Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act imposes equal liability on the creditor for breaches by the supplier. In other words, if the company you are buying from goes bust or disappears, or if the goods turn out to be faulty and you can’t get recompense from that company, the credit card company shares responsibility to refund you for the entire amount. However, it is important to remember that this is the case only for amounts between £100 and £30,000.
More recently, section 75 was also extended to cover transactions made overseas or to foreign companies. This also includes buying goods for delivery to the UK from overseas by telephone, mail order or over the internet.
There is now widespread awareness of this loophole as a means of enhanced consumer protection. As a result, credit card companies are getting increasingly reluctant to accept claims so easily. If you are having difficulty pursuing a claim against a credit card issuer, or they are telling you that you must first get a court judgement against the supplier, report it to the Financial Ombudsmen . They may even be able to award you compensation.
But like a few others on here have stated, the £99 you will have paid upfront for the "valuation fee" will not be covered
Anyone else with any extra info please pm me asap, I am contacting the police and the SFO about this matter, but I won't hold my breath.
One other thing, anyone else had the investor with the initials L.S. ?
Whats really REALLY getting my goat at the moment is the fact we were all set up in a chain of homeowners to go forward with moving, now though... I feel like simply jumping off a bridge, so once again, everyone who thinks this thread is funny, I hope it happens to you!:T0 -
So thats davcar who's been paid back, and nobody else then? So davcar, care to comment? You seem to be the only one fighting their corner after all, care to tell us who the companies you phoned in that building were so people here could confirm? People you talked to would be useful too.
Sorry if I sound offensive, but you have to admit you look like a blatant plant to make anyone finding this thread by accident less sure the company is a con. I'll happily apologise if I'm wrong, but I've never met you and trust is based on a lot of things.0
