  • Hello I dont know if this is the right place but here goes.
Looking for advice for booking a party of 7 adults two children 6/3 yrs flights to Orlando from second week of August.
Will sort out the Villa myself but struggling to find good flights !. Based In Teesside so will fly from Newcastle , Manchester, or depending on price any where!. Any clever people point me in the direction of a good site ?. Should I be patient and wait for the soposedly oncoming sales from VA, etc
    tia
  • Thanks for the heads up JohnStubberfield. Already got my flight, but wondered if you can give me a tip on a side trip to Vegas from Orlando (3-4 nights depending on flight times)? Seems there are no direct flights and travel time appears similar from Orlando or Tampa, with Tampa flights a bit cheaper. Your opinion welcome! -Or anyone else in the know!

Yeah, it's really annoying actually, US Airways were running direct flight to Vegas but they cancelled the routing about 2 months ago.

I'd personally recommend Delta or United Airlines for that trip. There is a good flight that goes daily via Atlanta that's currently £107.20 providing they are available on your chosen dates. the connecting times are good.

Who did you book your flights with? You might be able to fly home from Las Vegas which saves you having to get return flights back to Orlando.

    Hope that helps.

Actually... if you don't mind flying indirect with one stop in each direction you can fly from Teeside! 1 stop in Amsterdam and then direct from there, prices start from £689.60 per adult and £580.60 per child, so they are cheaper than direct flights from Manchester and and potentially more convenient for you.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks! Was thinking possibly Delta. Flights are Virgin. Travelling with another couple this time (close friends) and myself and friend are leaving the guys (who will do a Florida road trip, probably Keys/Everglades while we are away) for a few days just to get a 'girlie break' in Vegas -simply because I have never been and DH HATES Vegas, so flying back to Orlando no problem. Good price you found- will search that out! Thanks again- appreciated!

    .

Continental running a special for all dates in 2010, again availability permitting - don't forget these will be indirect flights via Newark or Houston.

    Hi Jon

I can't find anything on this - do you have any further info please?

    Thanks!

Flights start from £376 plus taxes (currently £216.77 from London) it's just knuckling down on specific dates. have you already booked time off work or accommodation? Flexibility is key in busy dates to gain the best fares. It sometimes hlps as well if you a flexible with the duration.... a lot of people go for 14 days... well you might have a cheap outbound flight on one date that marries up with an expensive flight 14 days later... whereas 15 days later there is a cheap inbound flight which give you a really cheap price overall.

What dates are you thinking of going in the summer?

Thanks Jon. We usually try and go for just over 3 weeks and try to fly Sat to Sat to maximise time in the sunshine state. My preference is to fly Continental from BRS (which is why I perked up at the specials for them!) but I will go to LGW or LHR if necessary. If the special flights are only on certain dates that's likely why I can't find them for when we ideally want to travel which is August 7th to 29th.
  • Can anyone tell me what Thomson currently charge for insurance and CDW on their "Free car hire" for Florida holidays ?? I've searched their site but they obviously want people to book blind. Makes me damn angry but they are the only company flying direct from Bristol.
  • If you book through an independent travel agent, they can offer you the Thompson flights at the same prices - sometimes less, and if you go to an independent travel agent that specialises in Florida they will have their own nett rates with the best car hire companies... Dollar, Alamo, Budget the main 3 in my opinion.

What size car would you like? The smallest car for a two week duration is £266 for the insurance with Thomson... Alamo for example have rates from £228 for the smallest option.
