Hi all, at last getting round to booking discovery cove. Can anybody please advise me as to the cheapest way. According to the DC web for the end of May its $289 + $70 for the ultimate package. I just wondered if anyone knew a cheaper way.

    Hi

I am pricing up Orlando in late aug 2010 (26th/27th although not too fussy) for 2 weeks.

We have never been to america before and looking at the brochures I think the quality inn on international drive will be cheapest.
I got a quote from Virgin for £2500 for two adults, a 7yr old and a 2yr old.

    Is this a reasonable quote?

As i say, we've never been to florida before so am unsure about what park tickets and things we would need.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!

Depends. How long are you going for? and are hotels included in that price?

I think you can beat that price if you package it separately. That is the last week of ther school holidays and flight prices dramatically drop. Where would you prefer to fly from?
  • I'd also have a look at the Lake Buena Vista area rather than ID.
  • thanks, i would prefer to fly from Manchester and the price does include the hotel.

I will try Lake Buena Vista, thanks

    Hi

    thanks

    Have a look on www.kayak.co.uk

I can find indirect from MAN for £438 for adults, children cheaper still for the flights. You can get a cheap hotel in Lake Buena Vista for £25 a night or so (have a look in the first post in this thread).

I prefer LBV to I Drive but if you don't want to drive I would say I Drive is better because of the transport links. If you don't want to drive chose a hotel with a shuttle to the parks :)
  • Hi I have been reading this thread for months gleaning loads of brilliant info -so thanks for all your great tips.

A question - we are looking to go to florida in feb 2011 on a tight budget - otherwise we'll never get there!! before the end of the century! and are looking at the following for accomodation.

    In no particular order
Lake Buena Vista Spa resort village (one with pirate galleon in pool!)
    blue heron resort
    cypress point resort
    bahama bay resort
The villas of somerset (thinking seriously of this for price and distance as near main road)

Has anyone stayed at any of them, which is better placed for disney/ value for money, recommended over another? Or can you recommend another suitable one! we are hiring a car but as I am the only driver I don't want to be travelling too long each day (btw we are 2 adults 3 children 12, 9 and 5) also we would like somewhere that has kitchen, washing machine rather than being stuck in one hotel room!! Port Orleans riverside sounds nice but I think one room for 2 weeks a bit much!
Any help you can give us would be great
    Many thanks
Thanks to MSE savings we got to go to Disneyworld Florida.

  • I was looking at the Blue Heron Resort for July 2010 but one of the Trip Advisor reviews states "There is a per day fee that is charged ($9.75) for use of common areas, parking and transportation" Works out quite a bit over two or three weeks. No-one else has mentioned it though. I will be interested to read the feedback you get on this.

I have also looked at the Lexington Suites has anyone any experience of these seem to get not bad reviews and includes breakfast.
