My FIL booked it on his credit card, What do you mean when you say we could claim the difference from them?

We only had an email of a potential 6bed back in Jan, they said that they allocate properties closer to the time. Is this common practice? I'll have a root through my old emails and see if they gave anymore clarification.

Like you, I'm a bit of a cynic & also thought that they might have been offered more $$$ for the property, guess without the address we'll never know, but I'll ask my FIL.

    Hi
Interesting. some of my investigations so far have uncovered they this company have allegedly taken images from a number of villa homeowevers and put them on their website without permission. They then again, allegedly, offer those house for rent and then when the time comes they contact the renter saying, sorry cant have that house but you can have this one that may cost more or is smaller etc.
So not great news I know.
Now on the credit card thing. Under s75 of the Consumer credit act your credit card company is jointly and severable liability for the goods and services you buy. Now yes you are being offered a refund but that does not help you at all. http://www.proflrentals.com/ have broken their contract to supply that house to you and thus tell your credit card company. They may say all you are entitled to is a refund but that in this instance does not really help you.
    So give them a call.
Also do you have travel insurnace?
    Cheers

More bad news then! We have found several more complaints about this company, their other company 'Orca vacation homes' both companies are owned by ANDINO AND RAQUEL D'SARONNO. Who have both been jailed for fraud!!!

We are now concerned about the alleged 4 bed towhouse that they have offered us... doing a quick search with the address it shows that it is up for sale. I don;t think that we can rely on this at all. I have sent you an email with the address & original email for the original villa we were promised.

Thanks so much for all your help so far.

    Lots of people do this.

Personally, I paid for my three year old as I didn't want her to lie at the gate if they asked how old she was. But YMMV.

Hey Jeanniebeanie, I have been thinking about this option some more and it might work as we get there a few days before the rest.... If nothing comes up beforehand we will prob stick with the 4bed townhouse (if we can trust that the company have got this one for us!) and try this option the first week before everyone else arrives and just look at booking a larger property for the 2 weeks that we are all together?

Is it easy enough to do? There does seem to be plenty of availability left but the quotes are coming in at $5000-6000. Do you have any particular recomendations of letting agencies that you have done this with? Any advice will be appreciated.

Sorry everyone..... I don't want to hijack this thread but with 3 weeks to go we are in a bit of a pickle!

Sorry only just got back to you- been away from the forum for a bit. As I have mentioned, we now rent from someone we know (he is a friend and neighbour) and although his villa is not free, he handles bookings for other villa owners he knows on the same or nearby estates. I would be more comfortable recommending him as I trust him completely.

My daughter has stayed in a couple of the other villas he handles and was really pleased. He has a website, both of his own villa and the other ones he handles. I understand that we don't know each other and that after what has happened you will be, quite rightly, wary, but in the spirit of trying to help I will pm the websites to you and it is up to you if you would like take it further.

    Me again!!

We have had some quotes from villa owners through last minute villas... One in particular we are very interested in. How exactly does it work and how safe is it to book with them? In my understanding we are booking directly with the owner.... what sort of guarantees does that give us?
Has anyone personally used these before?

Call me skeptical, but hey, we've learnt the hard way!

    Thanks, moira

I have used last minute villas for the last four or five years and had no problems. Is it a Brit's villa if so you should be given a phone number. get on the phone, and you
Don't have to take the price as final, offer a little less nearly [nearly] always works. Three and a half weeks is a good customer get something thrown in! Never know until you ask!;)

thanks, Yep it is a brits villa, he has come down to £2000 from an original quote of £2700 tax incl for 5 weeks not incl pool heat. (in laws are there longer than us). Would we pay the guy direct or through the last minute website?

It is on Linfields estate..does anyone know this location?

Lindfields is a great location. You are near to the 192 with its plethora of eating choices and there is a sneaky back road to get to Disney while avoid the stop/start of the 192 with all the traffic lights. The short cut is down Funie Steed Blvd and it brings you out near Sherberth Road which is another back road to Disney (brings you out by Animal Kingdom).

I can't help with your other questions, sorry.
