If you have 3 drivers available it might be an option to hire two smaller vans instead - we were a group of eleven in florida last time we went and it was so much easier to have our own cars, meant we could split up for the day and do our own thing then meet up at night for meals etc instead of trying to please everyone at the same time - gave me much more shopping time with the girls while the guys did their own thing

All parks on one ticket. I hope Shades of Green sell it!

I've never stayed at Shades of Green (no link to the military!) but I'd be surprised if they did sell this ticket, as I imagine it's for the UK market only. I don't actually think its one ticket anyway - its just tickets bundled. It's not possible to buy one ticket to cover all the parks, never has been. Disney I don't imagine would ever want to do that.

There is no such ticket. This is just different tickets bundled together

    Hi all :)

My bf and I have decided that we'd like to take a trip to Orlando in 2014.

My problem is not knowing where to start. Ideally we would fly from Newcastle airport but it seems not many airlines fly from there and thus prices are quite high. Would I need to look at certain times of year, as soon as tickets are released etc?

What's the best time to go? I'd like to avoid major school holidays as we don't have kids and preferably at a time when it's not too hot. Disney and Universal are the parks we're most keen on doing, however we'd like to see some others while we're there.

In terms of hotels, where is good to stay? Obviously on-site is appealing but I'm really not sure how much this would push the price up. We'd both be 21 next year so I'm assuming there would be a hefty damage waiver fee if we chose to drive.

We'd like to go for two weeks. I'm just wondering how much we'd expect to pay for a two week trip at a decent price. Is it doable in under £1000pp or would this be pushing it?

How much spending money would you recommend taking?

I apologise for all the questions but as you can see I'm totally clueless and a bit of help wouldn't go a miss :)

A lot can be answered by taking a look at The Dibb.

    http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/

    As a start:

Spring and Autumn (avoiding Easter and Thanksgiving) are good for low crowds and moderate temperature.

Tickets are expensive, but work out much cheaper per day the longer the ticket is for.

You have to be over 21 to hire a car or drink alcohol in Florida, so make sure you go after your birthdays if you want to do either of those things!

We found US Rentacar to have the lowest young driver fees.

Accommodation is subjective. Do you want privacy and a private pool ie Villa? On site could you cope with 24/7 Micky and still be away from the other big parks? Would you like to be in an area like International Drive - not too far from the parks and there there are lots of hotels near shops, restaurants etc many of which have park transport, but some people see the area as slightly 'tacky' these days? Would you want to take a look at the beautiful Gulf Coast while you are there?

Really, I would take a good nosey around The Dibb for some answers. Happy planning!
