Hi
I am planning on taking my son to Orlando next year hoping to stay at a disney resort? Roughly pricing to go I have been told between 2500-3000 pound. Is this correct?
I really want this to be an amazing holiday for him and hoping to take £2000 spending with me do you think this will be enough also? He will be 3 and half by thenx
Debt (1/9/14) £6,702.11 Debt free (30/11/2016) mortgage port- £70,077.82 and mortgage £126,517.39 o/s currently
Debt - £17,190.83 (29/7/22) now (19/8/22) £16,688.800 -
Stumbled across this thread and hope I can get some advice. Want to take my two kids (11 & 9) and wife to Orlando in the last 2 weeks of August this year. Spoke to a Virgin Holidays rep and despite getting a 7% discount as a Virgin Airways Club Member and getting a further £400 off for my air miles the cost of the holiday which included 10 days in Magic Kingdom at Saratoga Springs (studio room) with Quick service meal plan, 4 days in Universal at Hard Rock(garden view room) no meals, flights from London, 14 Day Ultimate Park tickets and car hire I was stunned to see the price was still £8300!!
Simple question....is it possible to get my family to Orlando at that time of year on a budget of £5k? If so how?
Many thanks in advance!
It would be possible if you didn't stay in a Disney hotel, and if you get lucky with some special offers.....
We booked last September for August 2013, for 3 weeks, and we got really good deals on the flights, car and UK airport parking.
Firstly, it is cheaper to book everything separately.
Flights we paid £440 each indirect flying Delta.
We paid £348 for 3 weeks (including all the insurance etc) with Hertz (full size car)
UK airport parking was free (should have been £90) as we got it free on a price guarantee.
I found all these offers on 'TheDibb' forum and Kayak/skyscanner flight comparison sites. You will pay a premium for staying in a Disney hotel, and even though you get free dining, it will still still be cheaper to stay off Disney.
We will be staying in the Hilton Bonnet Creek. We were lucky to book this before they introduced the resort fee. Worked out at £100 a night with Virgin, including breakfast, parking, and Disney shuttle.
We are going to book Universal for a few nights, and 4 nights on the Gulf Coast.
Disney tickets are expensive, but you can subscribe to the 'Mousesavers.com' newsletter, and they will give you a link to Undercovertourist.com for some extra discounts (on top of their normal discounts).
You could consider not getting 'the Ultimate' tickets, and instead go for a '5 day Magic your way' with 'waterpark option'. If you got these tickets from Undercover tourist (via Mousesavers newsletter link) they would cost $310.95 each inc tax and shipping - thats £199. Those tickets would give you 5 days in the Disney parks (no park hopping - you'll have to pay extra if you want that) and 5 admissions to Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Disney Quest, or the Disney mini-golf. You will only be at Disney for 10 days, so it seems silly to buy a 14 day pass.
Universal tickets are good prices through the mousesavers link too - 2 day base ticket + 1 day free (so 3 days) is $126.79 each (£81).
So you can see, if you look hard you can find some good deals.
Hope that helps a bit

I agree i have been a few times to florida - usually December though.
But it is quite hard to use up 14 day park tickets and very tiring to do parks day after day, the parks are huge and take some getting around - def walking miles a day.. So less days is the way to go.
I have always booked seperately for things and have stayed only on Universal Boulevard (runs parallel to I drive). Flights always been indirect as each airline has its own gateway in the USA so you fly to their gateway airport then change for internal flight to Orlando, bags etc forwarded automatically usually.
Flights will be £500ish each for august and if you stay in a hotel with free hot breakfast - should set you up for the day you can get a room on south I drive (near pointe orlando) or universal boulevard for around £40 a night per room and rooms sleep up to 6 in most hotels. (look on tirvago or similar search sites) at a Hampton Inn / Fairfield / Holiday Inn or similar these are close to places to eat such as TGIs.
I have both hired cars and not hired cars and this i think depends on where you plan on going - transport is often provided free via hotels on I drive and the trolley bus goes the full length from mall to mall and wet and wild is along the route and universal is easily walkable from this stop too - done it many times
Dont forget to book via cash back sites.

Am in Orlando at moment. There has been a big bust of a ring selling fake tix this week. Advice is to buy tix directly or through legit agencies, not ebay or other secondary sites.
Also, if anyone has a second home here, disney has an offer on at moment. Th4ee day pass for under $120.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
