Anyone been to the Enclave Suites. We stopped at the Westgate resort next 10 years ago and liked the location. Didn't have kids then and looking to take a 7 and a 4 year old. Best to get the 2 room suite? BA or Virgin for flights? Which one has the best in-flight entertainment? Looking at 23rd Oct for 2 weeks. Coming in at around £4k with car and insurance. Looked on Virgin site and Lowcostholidays. Anywhere else best to try too? Thanks for any help.

We are going with a 4 and 9 yr old in feb 2014. We booked thru going places/Thomson who booked with jetsave and virgin. For 2 wks at enclave with2bed suite, flights with virgin (my sis flies several times a yr with them and their upgraded plane is fab!) transfers and courtesy car and kids eat free (apparently these come as standard with jetsave??) it's cost us £3600 if that helps with a comparison.

Well, last time I went we didn't have a car and stayed in a hotel on I-drive, so I suppose I didn't get to see much else of Florida, other than the theme parks. I have to admit to being a fan of tacky-shops, anyway... sorry, everybody has a dark secret!

I actually didn't think much of Wonderworks, but I did like Ripley's Believe it or Not, and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf was also good fun and good value. Ponderosa was also a fantastic breakfast venue, and exceptional value for money.

I'm not sure why I didn't want to drive on I-drive. Probably just nerves about driving out there for the first time, and I can't get my head around driving from car park to car park to car park when thee places I want to visit are all in a row, it just seemed easier to walk along as much of I-drive as I want to see, then catch the I-trolley back to where I parked for the journey back to our villa. I guess I'll just have to start thinking more "American", i.e. if you CAN drive somewhere, why not! Ha ha! Thanks for everybody's help and advice :-)

There is so much more to Orlando than the theme parks..my kiddies and me are all "theme parked out" so although we have annual passes to all the parks we just go for a couple of hours now then move on to something else...there are some awesome state parks within 90 miles, amazing beaches...Anna Maria Island is out of this world and some great non touristy malls within 30 miles with fab non touristy prices!

I know we have only been home in the UK 4 days but the countdown is on..35 days till the next trip ha ha :rotfl::rotfl:

  • I'm going to Florida later this year and was excited about going to Magic Kingdom for the 4th July celebrations (it will be packed but nevermind), but i was oing to buy the 14-day tickets before i go, and can't find anywhere that states whether there is an extra cost for tus to visit any of the parks on 4th of july.

Does anyone know, or been on this day before?

    Thanks,

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but did a quick search and nothing is coming up, so apologies in advance.

I'm thinking about taking a trip to Orlando at the end of September of this year. I had a look on the Virgin site (for ease more than anything), but it's not giving me any results for some reason. Ideally I'd like to stay at Universal, since that's probably where I'd spend most time, but nothing is coming up on the search. I don't imagine I've left it too late to book, or have I?

Also, would I be better off doing this independently rather than through a package? I will be going by myself (no one else likes theme parks) and do not drive, so I'm aware that might make things tricky. I don't have any dates or ideas solidified yet, so I'm flexible with it.

No extra cost, unless you are table service dining in which case I think they levy a supplement.

The fireworks are amazing at MK, and the crowds are unbelieveable.

Do you mean Virgin Holidays rather than Virgin Atlantic? I'd be amazed if they were sold out already. Really amazed.

I tend to book DIY for extra flexibility and to save money. Any time I've priced up VH it's been significantly more than I could do myself.

Universal hotels are pretty dear, but the perks are amazing. We really like the Hard Rock :T

I've cleared my cache and the search is magically working again! I was having trouble finding anything on both Holidays and Atlantic, which is what was puzzling me. I am very much in the early stages of planning this, just really trying to price and get ideas at the moment.

I usually do DIY holidays, but I know nothing about the area. How easy would it be to get from the airport to a hotel (never mind the minefield of where to stay!)? I know the Universal hotels give you early entry, but is there anything else? How easy is it to get around Orlando generally using public transport? Depending on when I go I might do a Horror Night at Universal, but how would I get back from a late night at the park if I was staying elsewhere?

All these sorts of things are going around my head.

    Thanks,

I haven't been over 4th July before but I'm sure there won't be an extra charge. There's no extra cost to get in on any holidays and there isn't a special party in the evening that requires admission. Enjoy it, but it WILL be crazy busy so you may find that you have to find your spot really early and stay there for hours.

It sounds mad but if it is too busy you can still get a great view of the fireworks from the TTC across the lake and they play the music there too so you still get the experience without the crowds. :)

Cornwallkevin, don't be too put off I-Drive! Yes, the shops and 'attractions' are pretty tacky but there are some great restaurants around the Pointe Orlando area and it's worth going there just for the food!

I'm going to Disney in a couple of weeks and really can't wait. I do have a concern about some of the rides though as I have problems with my inner ear. Most of the time I'm fine but I do get motion sick. If Indeed to travel on trains or boats I have to take travel sickness pills, but I also struggle with TV programs with a lot of movement from changing camera angels (e.g. Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing on Ice). My friend who I'm travelling with thinks I'll be fine as a lot of the rides are motion simulated but I'm not convinced. Can anyone on here offer any advice.
