We've literally decided tonight to look into possibly go to Orlando sometime in next years summer holidays, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 11 and 8.

A quick peruse on the first choice website gave us prices of about £1100 per head, incl flights from manchester, on a room only and with car hire included.

I haven't gone into specifics yet, but is this a typical price?

Also how much should we be looking per person for entry into the various parks?

    Cheers
  • Don't forget the cost of the hire car insurance, the free car isn't free....depends which parks you want to do really, WDW £260 pp, US/IOA £90 pp, SW/BG £90 pp....don't forget car park at parks is $14 per visit.

£1100 in school holidays is cheap

If you can, cancel and book direct with ALAMO using this link (this is a 'reader bonus' to the Brit Guide to Orlando, not an affiliate link). Not only do you get a discounted rate, but most of the 'extras' like CDW are included in the price

    Brit Guide rates include:
    • Unlimited Mileage
    • Collision Damage Waiver
    • Liability Protection (LP) ($1 million liability coverage)
    • State/local taxes
    • State/local surcharges
    • Airport fees
I have used them every time I've been and had absolutely no problems. I would also recommend you buy the Brit Guide, as it is really useful. Already pre ordered my 2013 copy ready for when we go next summer!

That sounds really cheap, before you book it, check out the hotel details on Tripadvisor or a similar website. As Maemaesmummy says, there are some ropey hotels there ! Think about a villa if you're hiring a car too. The standard is usually pretty good and much more flexibility for your kids.

I'm booked with Alamo through Expedia but i'm not sure whether any extra insurance is needed or not? It says it comes with the Liability Insurance and Additional Liability Insurance but I keep reading sites saying you might need extra cover.
    What are your thoughts?

Thanks for the replies, I've done very little work in terms of haggling or shopping around as yet, nor have i hit the 'quotes' thread just a simple search on First Choice.

Just ascertaining what the typical package deal prices are and if it might be more cost effective to go indie, booking flights and self catering accom separately?.... It doesn't look like currently!

Our last few holidays have been all inclusive so it's a while since we've paid for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals... so am currently in the process of budgeting for meal costs! Ball park figures as to what a family of four might pay on average, to eat out per day will be gratefully received.

    Cheers
