  • we have just bought tickets to kennedy space centre with transport from attraction tickets direct, they were also offering free kids transport and entrance to ksc
  • I'm looking to take my gf to Florida in October 2012, and she's never been before. I've been as a child, but this will be my first time organising it all myself!

We're looking at the Disney 14 Ultimate tickets....and just wondering is that the only package they do now for a 14 day holiday? I remember as a child there was lots of different options and hopper add ons. Now all I seem to find is a 7, 14 or 21 'ultimate' pass.

There are a couple of parks we want to do, but a couple we're not too fussed about. We want to know if its cheaper to just do two or three of them and pay individually....or if its cheaper just to get the 14 day ultimate pass!

    Thanks in advance :o)
  • Hi Everyone,
have tried to read through as much as i can with getting some ideas and info :o) there is so much to take in!!
Me and hubby are going to disney in january for 2 weeks for our honeymoon!
He has been before when was 13 and I...well i have never been on a airplane! lol. so adding that into the fact we are not taking our 4month old baby girl - i am going to be a complete mess! poor hubby, us on our honeymoon and i will no doubt be in tears!

I am trying to read up and get as many ideas as possible really, Some people seem to have the holiday planned down to the last minute and i know other people that have gone and havent planned a thing apart from days when going to different theme parks.

Firstly - we have the quickserve dining plan, but would like there to be a couple of table serve meals, someone said that i wouldnt need to book anywhere as we are going in January - would anyone else agree?
Secondly - insurance, i have never looked into this at all before and was wondering whether anyone has any suggestions.

I have been mnaking notes from various websites, but ended up getting a little confused with it all!

Any advice would grreatly be appreciated!!
:heart2:Married my Prince Charming on 15th April 2011 - perfect day!

  • If you mean at WDW then making ADRs is the way to go..with the majority of guests on some form of DDP then restaurants get booked very fast..the window for bookings is 180 days (+10) for on-site guests. I'm waiting for the window to open for our June trip,

Just to say January has been very, very cold as has December for the last few years so pack well..

It usually is cheaper to get the uk ultimates..you can get the MYW tickets for a number of different day durations, but by the time you add water parks and hopping then they are usually around the same price for less time iyswim. Have a look on the wdw us site for the ticket options.

Don't forget the parking costs also if you are staying off-site.

You can have a look at a 'Magic Your Way base ticket'. These expire after 14 days, but in that time you only get a certain number of days. So a 7 day ticket allows you to visit one of Epcot, Magic Kingom, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom on 7 days within 2 weeks. So for example: day 1: Epcot, day 2 - relax in the hotel pool, day 3 - Magic Kingdom, etc....

What you can't do with that ticket is visit two parks on the same day, nor does it cover the Disney waterparks.

    Published prices are:

    1 day $91
    2 days $179
    3 days $247
    4 days $259
    5 days $267
    6 days $276
    7 days $284
    8 days $293
    9 days $301
    10 days $310

Obviously past 3 days additional days cost very little - Disney want you to keep coming back....

This compares to the 'Ultimate' ticket, which is a 14 day ticket and costs about £235 for 2012 = $375.

The Ultimate ticket is a bit of unnecessary upsell compared with the MYW base ticket.

If you buy the 7 day MYW base ticket here: http://www.undercovertourist.com/orlando/attractions/tickets.html it's only $262, which is currently equivalent to a $113 (£71) saving over the Ultimate ticket.

What's the difference? The Ultimate ticket lets you visit two parks on the same day, the Ultimate ticket allows you to visit on 14 out of 14 days rather than only 7 out of 14, and the Ultimate ticket includes the waterparks, Oak Trail 9-hole golf course, and the DisneyQuest video game/simulator arcade.

However, Disney are quite flexible, and in the event that you did want to go to the water parks and/or Disney Quest, then you can add this to your ticket at any point during your stay for $59 (a single waterpark entry is $52, and Disney Quest $46). Also you can add extra days for the difference in retail price of your ticket and the upgraded ticket - so from a 7 to 8 day ticket would cost $9. If you decide you want to go 'park hopping' - visiting multiple parks on the same day, this will likewise cost $59 (for the duration). However IMO park hopping is an unnecessary expense.

Basically buy a discounted MYW base ticket and even if you decide you want both the $59 add-ons (park hopping and water parks/disneyquest) after you arrive, it's not really going to cost you any more than buying the Ultimate ticket upfront.

The only UK-exclusive ticket that's possibly worth it is the 21-day ticket if you're on a 3 week+ holiday and you want to visit Disney over that long a period. This costs £265 (roughly $425), but in this case it's also worth considering the Annual Pass - $550, $125 more, but it will give you free parking - which otherwise costs $14/day. Alternatively you can use the pass for room discounts at Disney resorts, typically 10% better than the best publicly available rate - worth it if you're planning a week at an expensive Disney hotel.
