My daughter will be 8 when we go and I have no intention of taking a buggy. I can just imagine her reaction if I tried to put her in one lol, she would think I had gone crazy, having not been in one since age 2. Does he have a medical condition as he may need one then?
That is exactly what I thought!!! I think my son would think I was mad for even suggesting it but the person who recommended it has been before and has a 7 year old daughter. I think I will rely on his healthy legs!0 -
I saw a thread about this on either here or on thedibb. I couldn't believe that people were taking buggies for their kids! My DD hasn't been in one since she was 2 although DS was older. She didn't go in because she was just too big!
I can't imagine putting either of mine in a buggy at age 8 (which DS will be when we go). If they get really tired then we stop and have a rest. Or I give them a piggy back (DD is really really heavy now though so I may die if I have to do that!).
Getting quite excited about it now as we are almost ready to be booking itDebt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Not v MSE but what about a dolphin swim at discovery cove, pricey but good!
Or a day at clearwater and out on the dolpin sighting boats, we are planning to do that this time.
If you are at disney you can get a badge that says it's your birthday and the staff all wish you happy birthday when they see it.0 -
Aren't people funny-I can't imagine a buggy big enough to take a 7 or 8 year old anyway. You can hire wheelchairs in the park and I wonder if the person who advised you saw those and assumed they were buggies for big kids ?
It isn't just kids who get tired in the Florida parks but you can cut down on a lot of criss-crossing and backtracking by planning a rough route so you visit rides close together rather than say doing Big Thunder Mountain then crossing back over to do say Dumbo. Most people are surprised at the size of the parks.
Some people feel they have to do *everything* and charge around from morning til night to fit every single ride in -and end up dragging over stimulated and over tired kids around the parks and everyone istoo exhausted to do anything the next day -Others pace themselves and end up seeing more overall and having a far better holiday.
I look my son when he was eight -we didn't need a buggy but we DID build in breaks or break the day up -eg went in early -came home for lunch then after a rest and swim went back for the evening in the parks. Commando style park touring in all out attack mode isn't our style -but I know some people love to do it that wayI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Another question (maybe when I get back I will be able to answer some)! I have just been advised to take a cheap buggy for my son as he will get very tired - the thing is he will be 8 in December, does he really need a buggy?
You will get really tired too ! Just plan your day, taking breaks, i don't know any 8 year old that would appreciate being put in a buggy !0 -

Last time we were there we booked a Limo from Florida Dolphin Tours. It was fantastic, we didn't tell the kids, we just let the Limo pull up in front of our villa ! If you're staying in a Disney hotel and have already met all the characters it might not be suitable but we really enjoyed it.

We got anniversary badges when we were there in february - the kids were mortified as every where we went the Disney Staff wished us well and asked how many years etc. It wasnt our Anniversary till the week we came home, but it was our anniversary month!!
re buggy for 8 year old - we never seen any big kids in them when we were there. We all got tired ( I have Rheumatoid Arthritis -so get tired really quick) we just paced ourselves going from busy rid to quite one where we were guarantedd a seat, then off to a show etc - managed to do all the parks ! Came home shattered and blisters on my blisters but worth evry one of them!No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
Officially Mortgage free 31/07/2017 , 12 years early :j0 -
Thanks for the suggestion Phoolgrrrl, but she's already done a dolphin swim.
Meer53 - Florida Dolphin Tours has some great days out thanks & I like the look of the character breakfast with the limo pick up.0 -
Guys, when staying in Kissimmee Orlando - is it best to rent a car? We are hoping to go to around the parks (Disney, Orlando, SeaWorld) and wondering if it would be cheaper than taxis? I don't really want to take my chances on the shuttle buses as I haven't heard great things about them.0
