I booked flights and car hire through Opodo, the car hire included all the waivers so there was nothing to pay when we picked it up.

The villa I booked through Villarenters.com

    Hi guys

Just wondered if anyone can help..

Im about to think abut changing up some currency for our upcoming hol, 2 people for one week. We have accom paid for , flights paid for, im going to book the car through netflights. Can I do this without presenting a credit card ( i dont have one) I do have a visa debit that I used in Vegas. - should be ok shouldnt it? We are buying the 6 park flex and 2 days disney - which we are buying there.we do get continental breakfast included with our hotel.

How much money will we need to take, im thinking 1k should cover it, but OH says thats too much

I know this is a piece of string question
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I changed £600 for myself and 2 children for 9 days. We had breakfast at the villa, lunch at whatever theme park we were in and dinner out in Kissimmee except for the night we ordered a chinese to be delivered. The kids bought plenty of souvenirs, so much so we had to buy an extra bag to bring them back. So unless you are really big spenders I would say £1000 would be more than enough.

    Hi lynz,

£1k will be fine if not too much providing the tickets aren't in the same budget. When DH and I go to Florida we allow $50 each per day for incidentals, so much less. That includes food shopping (we do a shop at a supermarket to have bits and pieces in our room and snacks in our rucksacks, etc), all our lunches and dinners, plus spend on bits and pieces that we buy when we're over, however we've been quite a few times so we don't tend to buy souveniers these days, we also put our shopping purchases on credit cards. Check that your hotel has in room safes. I'd also take it as cash rather than TCs as travellers cheques are far less commonly accepted now than they were 5 or so years ago.

In terms of the car hire, I would just confirm with Visa/netflights/the car hire firm that you can use your debit card as a credit card, just to put your mind at rest.

If you need to call Orlando to sort out any of these arrangements, use one of the cheap call companies that Martin recommends. Through him I found Budgetcom, they aren't necessarily the cheapest to the States but I use them to call all over the world and their calls always come in on the bill at whatever they say the rate is. It is currently 1p per minute to call the States I think.

Hope you have a lovely holiday!

  • Hi
I'm looking for some advice please. We are planning to go to Disney for 3 weeks from mid july next year. The flights are starting to become available around now (outgoing available now, return flights imminent). We are fairly flexible with where we fly from but are particualrly looking at Gatwick or Manchester although Newcastle is also a possible. The flights we've looked at as a ballpark figure range from about £650 with the likes of Thomson to £830 with Virgin. Do these figures sound about right for the time of year and are we better off booking as soon as they are available or are they likely to come down in price if we wait? As the return flight is in school holidays I expected it to be a bit more but is this the going rate for school holidays? My ideal would be to fly with Virgin but has anyone flown with the cheaper airlines and how did you find them?
    Thanks for any advice.

for anyone fancying a late trip.....

loobylou - Globespan flights are now on sale, can buy with accommodation or do a flydrive, we've used them to get to other parts of the world cheaply before, worth a look.

    Assuming its your first visit?
    Disney Magic Kingdom [Toon Town]
    Universal Isles of Adventure {Cat in the Hat}
And perhaps a character meal in Disney!
If the child can swim a little a water park like Typhoon Lagoon Blizzard Beach Aquatica.
A walk around Downtown Disney, play with Lego!!
