Hi Can anyone help with the Orlando park ticket minefield??

    We're off to Orlando in November for 2 weeks. There's 6 adults, 3 children (8, 6 & 3) & 2 babies and we've hired a villa in Formosa Gardens.

Now the flights etc are all booked I'm starting to look for park tickets for us all but have no idea where to start - there seems to be so many different combinations!

Can anyone give me an idea of what tickets we'll need to cover most of the parks?

    Thank you!

I always get mine from Undercover Tourist, usually get Park Hopper tickets for Disney and Flextickets for Universal, Seaworld, Islands of Adventure etc. These tickets will cover most of the parks you can add on the Water Parks if you need to but as your kids are still young, i'd buy them as you need them if i were you. Universal and Islands of Adventure have lots of big rides which your kids might be a bit small for so you might not need a Flexticket, research whats at each park before you buy, you'll probably save money that way. Height restrictions will prevent your kids going on some rides. The water parks are great but again some of the stuff is for older kids/adults. Aquatica has a lovely beach. Last year, my daughter was 10 when we went and she still wasn't tall enough for The Hulk at Universal, she was gutted !!Each time we've been i've said "never mind, you can go on it next time !" Didn't stop me going on it though !
I'd plan first where you want to go, then buy your tickets accordingly otherwise you'll pay for tickets you'll hardly use.

    Hey Blue Monkey :j

Some of the casinos are funny with kiddies (you are okay to walk through but not allowed to linger iyswim)
LV has been trying to move away from the sin city image for a while now but imho always fails lol and will continue to do so whilst people are handing out flyers for adult massage (ahem) bars to kiddies whilst walking along the strip.

We love LV and have taken our kiddies from 9 months old but and its a big but.. we have friends there and stay with them about 3 miles off the strip.

There is a heck of a lot more to LV than the strip...we have done road trips to Anaheim, San Diego, Palm Springs and Lake Tahoe in past years.

If there is anything you need to know pm me...our friend actually works at a well known casino out there too!

  • Thanks Meer53 - height restrictions hadn't even crossed my mind! You've given me a few things to think about.
  • In this Thread talk about the games of the Orlando Magic. You can also reply to this thread after games as well. Hopefully this will stop the clutter in this forum. Might want to sticky this

We are not going this Easter though jonny - it's 2012. Will they not roll them out to Gatwick for another year?? Did not even have the games on the last plane we went on.

Plus - and this was a huge disappointment for me - the kids did not get their KiD Bag either. I asked for them and they said they had 'run out and no-one had filled them up'. They were really disappointed, I know it's not much but when you book with an airline because of the little extras, it would be nice if they bothered with them!!!

I have been fawning over the pics of the new plane today on the virgin Facebook page (if anyone is interested) it looks LUSH inside!! If anyone cares :ohttp://www.facebook.com/virginatlantic

To change the subject, would you take a 9 and 10 year old to Las Vegas? Can you take them to the things inside the hotels or are they just for adults? I don't think we would go out after dark but I can imagine it is an amazing place. I am desperately trying to think of what it going to fill that disney 'hole' as we will have a few years off after our next visit and have been looking at pictures of Dubai today - which looks amazing - but I gather it is expensive. And then we started thinking LV has a lot going on, plus we could go up to the Grand Canyon. And then we could 'ahem' drop down to Anaheim for a little Disney fix before flying home.

oh right thought you were going this year,as for the a333 fleet i think 3 are due this year to serve orlando from LGW,MAN and glasgow on certain days,2 more are going straight on short lease to china airways. This is due to an issue with upper class seats and once remainder of aircraft are delivered next year they will go to zurich for cabin config, these aircraft are probably for LHR routes mainly.

We had the same with kid packs last oct along with lack of decent childs meals unless you count chicken nuggets like MDF and beans like coal as meals that is?
I did complain to VS as it was far below the standard i have had from them in the past it certainly looks like they are cutting costs in a big way,we got a kid pack in the post a few weeks later.

As for going to LV with kids i went in 2006 and 2007 pre kids and from what i remember there were other families there they were aloud around the slots but not on casino floor.Personally i would have no issue taking children anywhere so long as it is safe mine has been to several places including NYC,orlando, miami and never had any issues there is always stuff to do.
One thing i would say about vegas is have it as a twin centre as 3-4 days in vegas is plenty,i had 4 days vegas,7 oahu and 5 in san fran this worked really well and there was so much to occupy us every day all of which would be suitable for kids.

If we do not manage to get anything from Disney then we'll get the kids an AP so that we can get the free parking and then stay at the Wyndham in Bonnet Creek (is this where you stayed last time we spoke Viv?) and the Hilton on ID and drive to and from the Disney parks.

We stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek which was an absolutely stunning hotel with amazing views, but isn't a suites resort. Next time you're over, will the suites hotel be open next to Pop Century? Animation Resort or something I think it is due to be called.

If you do stay on Bonnet Creek the bus services are nowhere near as good as Disney, so it is worth having a car. But you do need to watch out for parking charges and also resort charges in that area.
