Hi,
Hope you don't mind me joining in.
i've been searching to get the best deal to go to Florida in January, and i'm still not sure weather to go diy or package.
When i've been searching some places offer bed and breakfast and self catering accomodation but one place is offering 'All American Accomodation' and i was wondering if anyone knows what is included in this.:j
Thanks in advance.:wave::hello:Mab2009:wave::wave:0 -
Don't forget that if you DIY and something goes wrong - firstly you're not covered and secondly it's your fault if something is booked incorrectly.
If you leave it with a travel agent they can package it up for you dynamically giving you what you want and usually at a cheaper cost anyway. You don't have to stick to a brochure package.
I'm not sure what 'All American accommodation is' sorry. Where have you seen this?0 -

We were in Florida in February - - we priced it online and DIY but ended up going through an agent and booking apackage - worked out slightly cheaper for us TBH. We didnt want to take the risk what with last years ash cloud and the bad snow in December /January:eek: We decided better to be covered by a package deal. We did buy our park tickets seperatley through Orlando Attrractions - they were doing best deal at the time for us and were recommended on the DIS boards - Could not have been more helpful so would recommend - Got kids eat free cards free that we used a few times. No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
Officially Mortgage free 31/07/2017 , 12 years early :j0 -
Hi my granddaughter is going to Florida at the end of the month and I would like to get her a practicable present she will be staying in a villa with friends. I was wondering if villas provide irons if not I could get her a small travel for her to take. Also she got some euro left over from holiday last year can she use them in Florida or should she change them into dollars before she goes to Florida0

Excuse me for asking Jon, but are you a travel agent? Only that's truly a travel agent's answer.
If something goes wrong, well that's what insurance is for and its something that shouldn't be skimped on. Anyone who goes to America without it - with the potential for hospital bills and litigation - is mad to do so. Also, there's no need to book something wrongly if you do plenty of research and know what you're getting. Not saying travel agents don't have their place, I still use them occasionally, but people certainly shouldn't be put off doing their own thing if they want. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I booked a holiday to America last year and booked it through a travel agent. I did this because I thought the Travel Agent would look after me if something went wrong. I had a nightmare journey home due to snow in the US which meant flights were cancelled and I had to stay an extra night in the US at my own expense.
I had NO ASSISTANCE at all from the Travel Agent, either in America or after arriving home when I tried to claim back the cost of the extra night in the US.
I usually book everything myself seperately and after that experience I won't be using a Travel Agents again.0 -

Changing Euros to Dollars won't give her a good exchange rate here, and will be difficult - if not impossible - to do in Florida.
I don't know how old your granddaughter is, but personally I can't imagine wanted to be given a travel iron, sorry
I think it's really lovely of you to want to give her something useful though :beer:0 -

Certainly the feedback I've seen on the internet after the ash cloud didn't suggest those who'd booked with a TA were better served, in fact it made things more difficult for many as they were going through a third party to get things sorted. Travel insurance is ESSENTIAL.0 -
I think the best pressie you could get her is some $$$$ then she can treat herself to a present or a nice meal when she is there.0

thanks for replies, I will give her some money and I take it from the answers that their villa will have irons etc for residents to use. Also does anyknow if there will be an internet connection if she wants to take her lapto.0
